UN CADÁVER PELIGROSO
He aquí un cadáver que llegó del mar, irrumpió en la orilla con la tarde mansa, con la brisa suave y con el sol de espalda. Ha llegado huyendo. ¿Quién sabe? No se sabe nada, sólo que está muerto. ¿Acaso fue un pobre que huyó de su patria por miedo a morir?, ¿o será un soldado que vino a buscar una mano amiga que los ayudara?, ¿Puede que haya sido un gran bailarín que cayó en desgracia de algún mandamás? No sabemos nada, y es triste el asunto, pues no lleva señas ni algún documento.
Por eso acudimos a ustedes, amigos, para que investiguen por sus propios medios, si acaso el cadáver era algún ilustre, noble caballero, que perdió la vida buscando a su amada. Ayúdennos, todos, se los imploramos, que tenemos miedo de que vengas más, de que sea un ejército de malos guerreros, de que crean los otros que fue en nuestra playa donde lo mataron. ¡Ayúdennos! pronto, escriban su historia y a cambio daremos riquezas eternas.

A DANGEROUS BODY
Here is a corpse coming from the sea, bursting ashore in the soft afternoon, with the gentle breeze and the sun on its back. Has it come running away? Who knows? Nothing is known, only that he is dead. Was he a poor man who fled his homeland for fear of dying, or was he a soldier who came for help, or was he a great dancer who fell into the disgrace of some ruler? We know nothing, and the matter is sad, for he bears no sign or document.
