CP or Not CP. That is the Question.

CP OR NOT CP THAT IS THE QUESTION.png

Building back up my deck in Splinterlands has been where my rewards from my posts have gone in recent months. As soon as my rewards come through I turn my HBD into liquid Hive and I convert to DEC and buy a Splinterlands card. I have accumulated up to 60,000 CP with these rewards and I have built a pretty solid level 3/4 deck that can compete in tournaments and brawls (thanks @niallon11). Overall I have 252 cards right now which is a long way from November when @penderis loaned me a few for nothing to get me going god bless him.
My rating is well above my level mainly due to the CP limits so I am renting at the end of a season to promote myself into gold for better rewards meanwhile building to get to that gold level.
Now I could easily hit the CP if I max out some of the 1 cent common cards but instead I am investing in cards that help me improve my deck rather than focusing on CP. Maybe I will regret this in the long term when these cards are inexpensive but I like playing the game so investing in a card I would use alot is much more beneficial to a card with a higher CP. I listen to Dwayne Cunningham's or @infidel1258 on Youtube every day and I find some of the tips coming from his videos very helpful. The game is quite complicated when you get into the nitty gritty so these Youtube videos are great for newcomers and I recommend people watch them.
I actually have one question that I would like to ask the community around CP. I am wondering if someone did the maths. Is it better to max out a few regular common card with 400 BCX that are 1 cent at the moment or save up and buy a gold legendary. I would say there is pro's and cons. Is there a tool to find the cheapest CP for example if this is what you would like to do. I might start investing some external crypto into CP rather than my deck soon and would like to know the best way to just increase the CP. I know there is a tool when renting , renting for a certain CP for the lower cost but buying the highest CP for the minimum price is something I would be interested in so I can compete at the higher levels if I so wish.
So apart from the battle in Splinterlands I am facing a dilemma over what i should be doing. Buying cheap CP or buying and upgrading my cards so I don't get battered. It's all well and good having the CP but if you do not have a solid deck I will be eaten alive especially in brawls. There is always opportunity cost in Splinterlands so I am siding with the building my deck at the moment but give it a year and I think the two will balance out and CP will no longer be an issue.

Sort:

I'm trying to buy CP first and, when I have enough CP to be in a League, then I upgrade my cards to be able to actually sustain the minimum rating to be in that League.

So you are doing it the opposite as my plan. Interesting. The chicken and the egg. I am now thinking your way is probably best.

My idea is: it doesn't matter if I can sustain a high rating if I don't have enough CP to be on that League. So first I buy the CP, and then I upgrade my cards to reach the Rating...sometimes I can even skip upgrading the cards because I can reach higher Ratings with my old cards due having more experience with them and playing better :D

I have never used DEC to buy cards I think - How does it work?
And how does the price of DEC affect it?

I would recommend using credits because they are a more stable way to purchase. You can convert your SPS to Credits if you want, but I generally hold DEC in order to maximize SPS daily drops

Just wondering what happens with the price of DEC, as it is currently under the loose peg.

The system should make adjustments that place DEC pretty close to the cost of credits, but with drastic market fluctuations, it can go either way if you use DEC

How would you buy them if say you are using Hive?

I use Splinterlands to transfer Hive into Dec and then I use either Peak Monsters or Splinterlands to buy the cards. Credits and Dec tend to go up and down but it's not so much that it would stop you from buying a card.

I am just wondering if for example, when the price of DEC is below 1:1000, if it is better to buy with DEC, or does it not matter?

I’m doing the same thing! Using the hive rewards from my posts to buy cards although I only started a month ago and my CP is only 1.3K
I convert HBD to Credits. Is it better to use DEC to buy cards?
