Season 141 has finished and I've yet again reached Diamond II and was not far off Diamond I. I think I need one or two more cards to give me that push to get into Diamond I. Either a couple of Rebellion meta cards or a Dr Blight at least at level 3 which I don't have right now.
This season I haven't made any meaningful changes to my deck although I do have my eye on a few key cards that I would like. As the time toward the rotation of Chaos Legion approaches though, it makes less and less sense to buy these cards and with new cards dropping, my focus is therefore changing.
The last I checked, the unbinding of soulbound cards had burned more than 100m DEC, which was up from the 40m DEC I reported last season. I only bought 1 card from the shop and didn't bother to try and complete my deck for the remaining ones as the cost was too high. The DEC burning requirements are like making artifical price inflation on the true value of the cards and instead just stops many from buying them.
As I do not agree with the DEC burning tax to unbind, I did not participate in any unbinding in the end.
In the season, I was working on earning as much glint as possible to try and buy the 400 common cards that I could for the 225 glint per card. I managed to achieve this and also with my end of season glint bought another 400.
My ranking was over 40 points higher than last season where I had hit 3140 and therefore is another new personal best for me. My End of Season glint earnings were nearly76k which was much less than the 125k from the last season, this was due to not buying energy and renting less SPS for earnings.
With my 400 extra common cards, I could level up some of them to level 5 already which was pretty nice. It does make me think with this level of card inflation and with the game being now a max level only game, that the cost of new rebellion cards is totally out of whack in the game compared to the other assets and therefore the price should be lowered to encourage more sales and also incentives for bought cards over earned cards.
Otherwise it just makes no sense to buy any of the new more expensive assets until they collapse in value that everyone expects them to do, including Bulldog.
Does this mark the end of owning your own assets in the game for Splinterlands? As I mentioned last week, owning the soulbound cards seems to be the main focus of the game now and there are no incentives to buy owned cards or assets. Even the soulbound cards are not so attractive when you cannot unlock them.
Some good news this season has been the SPS pamp! The SPS went from its recent ATL back up to $0.0075, which is a nearly 50% pump! The background of this is unclear, as many people sell SPS for earnings or to buy DEC. Lets hope that it continues.
With the voucher usage for energy being switched off, there could be much less SPS being earned by the top players as it may not be economical for them to buy energy and play extra games to progress in the league. Will this also result in a more fairer distribution of SPS earnings for all players? Time will tell in the coming seasons.
Overall the crypto markets are suffering badly and even Bitcoin is struggling to move higher than $58k. There seems to be lots of fear and capitulation in the market and ETH receiving lots of focus right now with how lacklustre it has performed. Gas fees are apparently at all time lows and its hardly surprising as the Metamask is absolute garbage.. It looks like proof of stake and sound money have been rejected by the market and some even talk of no alt season this cycle.
Hive is still in the doldrums and this seems to now cause some to focus the light on content creators powering down and withdrawing their earnings. There is however plenty of cash in the DHF as Splinterlands is now getting paid regularly nearly ~$3k HBD per day. As it is sold on the internal market, im sure it has no impact on the price 😅.
My soulbound progress is going well with 16% of common cards and 4% of rare cards completed. I will probably convert the gold foil cards to glint to get more regular foil cards at some point too.
There are no cards really standing out from the new set for me so far, it doesn't help that I can hardly read what splinter they belong to and this really irks me the most about the rebellion cards.
This season I bought a Halfling Alchemist who is really great like Arkemis the Bear in that he can weaken your opponents attack. He was on offer quite cheap, so I grabbed him for my alt collection. Maybe I will get a chance to put him to action in some guilld battle.
At only a 2 mana cost, he can fit in pretty cheaply to most battles and deal some deadly damage. He only has 1 health though, so you need to protect him!
This season I only opened 2 glad packs which was much less than the 22 from last season! 😅 I sadly didn't pull another Quora yet and she is the one I am mostly seeking to upgrade as soon as possible.
Therefore there isn't much impact to my glad collection stats so far.
Thats all for this update.
How was your season?
Thanks for reading.
