Just 6 days before this post, I wrote this one, full of beans about playing and thinking my days of a lousy rental scummy slumlord may be over.
With just 8 days of the current season, I am quickly changing my mindset. I am not your standard player, have several accounts, am deemed an OG player (I find this term strange), and am interested both as a player and investor of this fantastic game.
Fantastic you say? I do.., it's not as complex as Magic: The Gathering and yet forces you to think. This is more so at the Gold and above levels and does not require such a high IQ level to be inaccessible to the masses.
...'thanks @revisesociology for the above data. Even Waka is in demand!'...
Getting back to this 'OG' term, this means I own a lot of the older cards. The demand for the likes of Yodin Zaku, Prince Rennyn, and Valnamor are currently huge and the rental demands show this.
That saying, playing at the higher levels could be fruitful, I have seen chests with 18,000+ DEC paraded about.
For the regular type of player or investor who entered the game around last August when the hype frenzy was at its highest, you may be feeling a little hard done by.
...'Obsidian is hot, and during the last day has become much hotter, the mass cancelations (by me) show this'
Should you as one of those players continue to play, or rent out your entire deck?
If I was in your shoes I would likely play. The newer cards do not seem to be demanding huge premiums in the rental market as yet. Wait until they are OOP (Out of Print) and things may change.
The market right now is very changeable…, and like a truly awful monster-lord, I am canceling lots of rents. When I see my cards rented for 8x my rent, can you blame me?
This season is particularly tough as EVERYONE has decided to brush off their decks and play again.
If you are playing for Gold chests, you may not be able to even play in the Gold league due to the intense competition.
...'previously a Diamond League deck, but now a Gold one. This account of mine struggles to gain daily Focus chests as they are Diamond chests and the account is stuck in Gold'...
This means you won’t get many daily Focus chests (yet). I would suggest downgrading your league and (for this example), playing the Silver league next season.
While this may appear demeaning, we as players want excitement, we want some of those tasty chests.
...'pulling yet another Gargoya Lion is like living the dream. You can count yourself a whole 1c richer'...
If they contain yet another 'Gargoya Lion' then you drew the short straw. From my experiences, in the last few days, one can gain many chests if your deck is attuned to the correct league.
Next season will be better, trust me.
The Focus quests are a hot topic. If you get ‘Earth’ then lucky you, especially in the Bronze league.
Obsidian lays waste to most other decks, with Kelya coming in second.
I am playing Obsidian currently using the @bings-cards account. Most of the time I can choose very similar cards and the chests flow in.
...'playing for Bronze chests in the Silver league gives you the tingles. Add Earth to the mix and it's orgasms'...
This account is currently in Silver III and earns Bronze chests. If you can get yourself in this situation, that is.., earning lower-end chests in a higher league then you will gain many, as many as 30 (the MAX per day).
Don’t expect Bronze chests to contain great valuables. It’s not supposed to be like that though I did get 700 DEC in one a few days previous.
The positive I can take from the Reward Revamp is they are giving us a lot more, but only if you are in the correct league.
The Focus quests being fixed for 24 hours is not so good. The Splinterlands team is aware of it, and I suspect changes are coming soon.
Earth (Obsidian) is overpowered in the Bronze and Silver leagues. Add a level 3 Flesh Golem (from Beta) and you will kick arse.
In time I am sure this one-sidedness will be fixed. They always fix things, so for the moment take advantage of it.
...'probably the oldest BOT farm, their vaults are full of low-level goodies'...
The BOTS are still running. I see the Enminers ones kicking about, have a peek here.
They have invested capital into the game, and annoyingly still occasionally kick my arse during matches. Good luck to them, I am far from being an anti-bot person.
Other BOTS are still dominating the Bronze league, probably with starter cards and earning nothing. They will be amassing large electric bills however and will need to shut down or invest.
I personally would like them to invest, it increases card demand and we as humans can beat the BOTs in play quite easily using some brain power.
...'one can earn 30 chests a day. Its a massive improvement on the past and very giving for the would-be investor-player'...
So if you are feeling a little peeved by the new changes. If you earned more chests before, think the competition is intense, or have an overwhelming hatred of the Earth splinter I would say:
Wait until next season, and deliberately keep a season below what you are used to.
We all want chests and LOTS of chests!

- Own assets, and earn currency while playing one of the oldest, most established Crypto Games, Splinterlands
