Namaste to all the Residents of Splinterlands!š
In this week's šSplinterlands Social Media Challengeš I've chosen a battle where you'll see the amazing power of a seemingly ordinary card and understand why every card is important.
So, the total mana cap for this battle was just 14, including the summoner's mana cost as you all know!
Summoner | details |
---|---|
Kelya Frendul a summoner of the Water Element whose mana cost was 4. This Summoner would provide +1 Speed and +1 Armour to all-friendly cards. This is a very good level 1 water summoner especially when you have a medium to low mana cap. Because the authority to attack first that comes with speed helps give you an edge right from the start of a battle, and not-so-strong cards added with low mana also get an extra layer of protection. | |
Rule set (Standard: no modification) | Meaning |
---|---|
As its name suggests, this ruleset made no modifications to the battle. |
Cards on the battlefield
1st position (Deeplurker) | Ability |
---|---|
Mana cost of this card is 6, It's a melee attack card, having Opportunity ability this card can attack from any position and will target the enemy card with the lowest health. |
2nd position (Daigendark Surveyor) | Ability |
---|---|
This is that seemingly ordinary card which has no attacking power, just a magic reflect ability. In this battle you will know how important this card can prove to be in certain situations. |
3rd position (Hardy Stonefish) | Ability |
---|---|
Mana cost of this card is just 1. It is a melee attack card. With no ability. |
4th position (Chaos Agent) | Ability |
---|---|
It is also a 1 mana cost card having no ability and no attacking power. Its role in this battle is just to withstand the attacks. |
I created my team by using all mana caps with these cards.
Now I will take you to the battlefield!
This is how the battlefield looked after all the monsters received their summoner powers. The first part of my strategy starts with the selection of the summoner where since the mana cap of this battle was very low I couldn't manage to add cards with so much of health so I first worked on making my team stronger by choosing Kelya Frendul (A Water Summoner) In addition to +1 armour, this summoner's powers also had +1 speed, due to which my cards were going to get a chance to attack first.
Now let's see what happens on the battlefield!
š„Round 1 (Battle Begins)
As I said, after getting +1 speed, my cards had the chance to attack first, due to which, as soon as the battle started, my first-place card attacked first and knocked out the opponent in one go.
š„Round 1 (At the end)
Here the opponent team's one attack after another took my only attack card out of battle by the end of the first round.
Looking at the battlefield here it may seem that my defeat is certain because my opponent has 4 cards left and all four are attacking. Still, due to the problem caused by the low mana cap in the battle, none of my opponent's cards have much health, the disadvantages of which you will see in the upcoming rounds.
š„Round 2
Are you wondering that when I don't have any attacking card then who did this attack on my opponent? well, this is the speciality of my current first-place card. With Magic Reflect ability it reflects the magic attack on it and causes half of its damage to the attacker. And the explosion light seen above is from that same magic reflection damage.
š„Round 2 (somewhere in the middle)
Here again, my card in the first place has been attacked and has only one health left, but the reflection of this attack is still pending, which will take away the only health of the enemy card as well and kick him out of the battlefield. After which even if my opponent is left with only 2 cards but both of them are attack cards whereas I have only one attack card, so what do you think, who will win this battle?
Look, I can tell you the complete situation of the battle by adding some more screenshots, but through that you might not be able to understand the importance of these cards as well as you would be able to know and understand by watching this battle live.
I have already told you about all the stats in detail, now you just have to watch this battle and understand how abilities can also turn into disabilities in different situations and even ordinary-looking cards can give you an edge in the battle.
Lesson
As I just said, abilities can also turn into disabilities in different situations and there is no card in this game without a reason. So it is very important to select your team by understanding the ruleset and mana cap while keeping in mind your opponent's previous battles. This also gives you an idea about your opponent's mindset based on which you can make a better strategy. š
