For today I want to share an almost 60 year old coin I found in my treasure chest.
It's a 1964 25-centavo coin (Philippines) that features a sexy lady holding a hammer on an anvil on her right hand while we cam see a smoking Mt. Mayon volcano at her left.
This coin was given by my late mom to bolster my collection. According to the Numista website this is the reverse side, so I believe them.
The front side shows the seal of the Central Bank of the Philippines. We no longer call it Central Bank nowadays but it is now officially called Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Central Bank was bankrupt for some political-economic reasons during the 80s, and so was closed and reopened as Bangko Sentral.
I love the old coins more because they just have better artistic designs. My first thought was that it was a Roman goddess or the Libra lady giving it a vibe from the Roman Empire days.
If you have one of these, please comment. Usually those people who have this were those married around 1950s to 1970s era as part of a wedding ritual to just keep coins to sumbolize the couple to have a prosperous union. My parents were married on 1971 so thats why they have it.
I actually have a 1962 of exactly the same coin but the 1964 have more line details. The 1962 I have has a smooth volcano as well as the anvil stand. The 1964 version have lines on the volcano and anvil stand.
