Out with the old, in with the new
I cleaned up this mess a few days after storm Éowyn ripped through the West of Ireland.
These big heavy clay pots had to be binned. To use the Galway vernacular, They were goosed! There was serious weight in them, as they were big solid pots. I decided to keep the rootballs to replant, but I'd need new pots.
The Candidates
I finally got around to checking out a few replacement pots in Woodies and Homestore and More here in Galway a couple of days ago and there were plenty of options to choose from, as you can see below.
There were these clay ones.
These ones were like a mesh with some cement like product on the outside to give a stone look effect.
More clay ones.
I really like this grey one, but they only had one and I needed a matching pair for either side of our front door.
Moving on Homestore and More and some plastic options.
More plastic options
And finally two clay options from Homestore and More.
Wheelin and Dealin
In the end, I opted for these blue clay pots. They should have cost €110, but after a great chat with the Garden centre guy, I managed to convince him to sell them to me for €30 each, as they were looking to clear some space out there for new stock.
I got up early this morning to plant them.
I had to cut away a little bit from around the edges of the rootballs, as they were a little bit too big for the pots.
Once I cut away the excess they fit snuggly in the new pots.
Here they are now either side of the front door.
I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. I think I'll paint the bases and the front door navy in the next few months and see how that looks.
These photos are all my own taken on my Samsung Smartphone.
Thanks as always for stopping by everyone
Peace Out
