Getting Ready For 2023......

Hey everyone! Can not believe how fast this year seemed to go. In just 2 more days it will be 2023. I know it is just another day, and business as usual. But what a great excuse to reset everything, and start from scratch. My garden project isn't much of a garden at the moment. More like prep work getting ready for a slightly bigger, and extremely better garden for the new year.

Currently the California is experiencing an Atmospheric River, and it has been raining the last few days, with even more expected for the remaining of the week. As you can see it is turning everything nice, and green.

The cold is proving to be damaging to whatever is budding.

But I still managed to pull another harvest from the Habaneros!

The Squash has a few melons coming along.

But for the most part is about done, and is being cut back, and thrown in the compost.

Caught under the Mistletoe

I did recently harvest a melon. Not bad for a garden in Winter!

Above is the other Squash that started growing from the compost I added for the Yellow watermelon. Crazy that this one is still thriving after the Yellow Watermelon died.

The Tomato is still in the ground, not really doing much.

Except producing material for the compost;)

The Pumpkin seems to also fell victim to the cold, as pretty much expected.

Although the fruit is not fairing to well, the foliage is as green as a neon sign. This does have me hoping that perhaps if I let it grow, just maybe it will survive, and start to grow again come Spring. I would bet 5 Hive it does, anyone want to take me up on it for fun(5 Hive)?

The other Pumpkin

Here are the two Glass Corn, that have been in the seedling stage since October. If these somehow do make it, and start to grow, I will no doubt have to transplant them. I want the row of corn elsewhere, further out then they where last year.

Another thing I am prepping for the upcoming garden is to plant more Marigolds.

I have planted some here, and there the past month. I am lucky to have a few pop up, but the real sowing will start maybe after February.

I will bury these Garlic Bulbs sometime in January. These where gifted to me from fellow Hiver @anewyorkminute79. It is cool to think these where once underground in New York! Thanks again bro, and I will put some extra love into these.

Here are both of the compost piles still cooking. I have decided not to worry about the gnats since I will be using this outside. And as far as comparing the two. I do not notice much of a difference. So if you want a compost, and want to go the cheap route, a simple garbage bin, with some holes drilled into it will do you just as good as one that will cost you 3-4x the price.

A Marigold seed photo bomb!

So there you have it. Basically something to keep me busy, and to satisfy my garden itch. I have no doubt that this upcoming garden will be better then the last. I also will grow more from seed, and not be growing some random squash I find in the compost. I will get that Yellow Watermelon, and hopefully some Pumpkins in time for Halloween. You can bet I will have more Glass Corn. After all that stuff makes great for click bait. For now hopefully this rain keeps up, and gives us the much needed water this area needs.

Happy New Year everybody!

You did a great job with the garden this year, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the new year brings for all of us. 2023 will be a good one I'm sure :)
Those melons and peppers certainly love you :D
Keep on being amazing brother!

Mad love to you too bro. And it has to be better, at least that’s the goal 💪

Very cool bro! You get to grow year round! All we have here is snow. You should get about 15 to 20 plants out of those garlic bulbs and I can't wait to see how they grow in your area! Keep up the great work brother! 👍

Cool man, and thanks!

Happy new year homie

Thanks bro! I renewed to step up. U game and bust out some game posts. I’m in the process of hanging a tv in my boys room. Nothing real elaborate, but it’s going to be a real cool setup. One that I never had as a kid :)

That compost is great future planning - glad to see that melon hung in there for ya, nice handful of habeneros and garlic too. Any chance of harvest for me was in late October :D

Yeah I bet, it really gets cold where you are!
