Discovered a new place to buy plant / saplings
Ekamra Udyan - the government firm of agriculture department is a huge space sprawling over 27 acres of land in the heart of city where Dad's graduation batch meet happened about which I shared in this post. This is the first time I went here and I was surprised to not have discovered this place earlier. So along with being a photographer of that event, I explored the firm to find out what they are doing and if I can benefit from it - a gardener's instinct never settles.
So the other firm where I always go sells, only flower and decorative plants and saplings, but these guys have it all - flower, fruits, and even vegetable saplings - like a combo of everything.
They are all real - for a moment I thought that vertical rack had artificial plants and I had to touch them to feel it. Now let me show you some spectacular shots from the place showing all varieties of plants.
Small cute hybrid banana plants.
Mango flowers - welcome to the spring.
The entire area was beautifully decorated with several plants.
I liked how they are watering these plants by using some drip irrigation systems that would consume very less water. I am now exploring to implement that idea in our society - it will save a lot of water and most importantly manual effort. There is always something new to learn for a gardener and improvise.
A mini Rose garden put up nicely at the entrance.
This was tempting - look at that small papaya plant. I am a big fan of papaya and having few plants like this can meet my yearly requirement, and the good news is that they sell these saplings.
Tomatoes not yet ready, but they all look healthy.
Curly flowers.
Vermi compost Unit - I will have to inquire if they are selling it or not.
I brought this cabbage to home.
A temporary shed for their people who are working here.
Sweet corn - most likely they will be ready to be yielded in couple of weeks. Each plant looks so healthy - showcases the care they do.
And this flower plant has entirely taken over the Jackfruit plant - what a niche idea - Jackfruit always comes over the branch, and this beautifully decorates the area. I am going to bring a stem of this when I go to my native - will do the same there.
Mango saplings - someone was watering them in the below image.
This dog came out of nowhere barking at me, I was scared for a moment because recently the kid was scratched by a dog and serving the consequence ( will write in a separate post).
Even this small mango plants had flowers - I loved how they have maintained the place. Since it was a holiday, there were no office staffs, but I inquired some ground staffs about the timings - I can get lot of benefits from this place.
Hope you love the photographic journey of this beautiful place. This post is in response to the The First Official Garden Journal Challenge of 2025
