22 Weeks Breeding Chicken Report

in #hive-141359yesterday

It has been more than a month since I stopped posting my breeding chickens food.

I bought the chickens in July 2024, and now it is November.

My chickens have not laid any eggs. Theoretically, layer chickens should start laying eggs between 16 to 18 weeks.

Analysis

I will analyze why my chickens are late in laying eggs.

  • I feed the chickens a combination of household waste and factory-made food.
This might be reasonable because the nutrition could be lower. The factory-made chicken food has high nutrition.
  • I feed the chickens twice a day.
The growth of the chickens was faster when I fed them every 24 hours. I also fed them at night when they were about two months old.
These two factors are reasonable. To speed up their growth, I add more factory-made food to the food mixture.

Why do I not give 100% factory-made food?

I want to minimize feeding costs. However, based on what I've learned, the combination of factory-made food and household waste should be readjusted. Adding more factory food may speed up their growth.

In my prediction, the hens will start laying eggs in four weeks. The sign is that their bodies have been growing, and they are also getting fatter.

All the chickens have a high appetite. They eat all the food mixture I give them. Each week, I buy 1.5 kilos of factory-made food. If I don’t mix it with household waste like rice and vegetables, I will spend three times the cost.

I plan to make fermented food for my chickens. Fermented food will reduce costs, but it requires a longer process. I should mix factory-made food, rice bran, and unused rice or vegetables.
