In the hot afternoon, I went home from my place of work. I sell some cold snack but the day was not a good day. I made no good sales.
In the evening, I ran out of cash to buy raw materials to sell tomorrow's product. It has been weeks that my sales drop sharply.
Then, I did nothing in the evening. I usually make the snacks and put them into freezer. But, that evening, I felt very sad.
I did not have idea what to do. Then , I woke up early in the morning. I saw there was a bay leaves on the side my house. I thought about selling the leaves to the market.
I cut all the leaves. I tied them in one big bunch of leaves. Then I brought them to the market. I rode my motorcycle.
That was my motorcycle. It was parked in front of a crop store. I asked the owner" Do you want to buy bay leaves?" He said "No".
Then I walked around and tried to find another buyer. Then I met an old man. He was busy with his jack fruits. " Sir, do you want to buy bay leaves?" I asked" He answered " 20 thousand rupiah, unload the leaves, I will buy them".
I was shocked. I have never brought any crops to the market. The buyers offered very low price. But, I had no idea. I asked " 30 thousand rupiah" He said angrily " 20 thousand rupiah, if you want".
My head seemed want to explode but I calmed my anger. To cut down the leaves I spent much energy and I had a coffee. The coffee was 5 thousand rupiah so I would only get 15 thousands rupiah for a big bunch of leaves? . " That is crazy" I murmured.
I had no idea then I sold all the leaves for only 20 thousands rupiah. It was less than $2.
I rode home. " Life is not nice today". I thought how hard farmers in rural areas. They had no vehicles. They sell the crops in cheap price. It is one reason why more young people do not want to be farmers. To be rich farmers , people need high capital because they need tech and knowledge. The support from government is very important in this case to level up the farmer's life and prosperity.
