I have today free all day. I have not done any gardening in a long time, and the wild grass has grown back really tall. But today, I choose to be laid back and slow. After a week of feeling sick and experiencing headaches, my body feels energised and healthy again; nonetheless, I am glad to feel better today without any vertigo or discomfort. So, I take the chance to have a lunchtime barbecue.
I grilled two varieties of meat. First was pork, which we obtained from a nearby vendor charging kilogrammes. Pork prices have increased dramatically when compared to years past. A kilogramme nowadays costs RM35, nearly equal to eight USD. Venison was the other sort of meat. My father-in-law hunted this venison last year, so he gave it to us. Though over 60 years old, he is still strong enough to walk into the forest and hunt. He enjoys hunting. That's something we really proud.
The temperature today was ideal for grilling. No disturbing rain or extreme heat. Starting about ten in the morning, I wanted the meat ready for lunch. Soaking tissue paper in leftover cooking oil is how I light charcoal. This causes the tissue to burn more slowly and generate sufficient fire to heat the charcoal. Although the charcoal takes time to heat enough for grilling, finally everything was ready.
Lunch invited my folks over. Apart from the grilled pork, we also ordered some sweet-and-sour chicken. We were totally stuffed from a great and mouthwatering lunch!
