The other day I saw on the news that Venezuela leads the ranking in Latin America for informal employment and entrepreneurship, according to figures from the Association of Workers, Entrepreneurs and Micro-entrepreneurs (Atraem), with approximately 7 million people working on their own account.
El otro día vi en las noticias que Venezuela encabeza el ranking en Latinoamérica de empleo informal y emprendimientos, según cifras de la Asociación de Trabajadores, Emprendedores y Microempresarios (Atraem), con aproximadamente 7 millones de personas trabajando por cuenta propia.
For those of us who live here, it is evident that in the streets there are many people making their daily income by selling any kind of product or offering some kind of service. This can be seen in any city in the country, armed awnings on a sidewalk or in front of it, in busy streets where disorder takes over the spaces.

The economic crisis that Venezuela went through in recent years caused many people to leave their formal jobs because salaries became insufficient to live on, and people looked for alternatives.
La crisis económica que atravesó Venezuela los últimos años, hizo que muchas personas dejaran sus trabajos formales porque los sueldos se volvieron insuficientes para vivir, y la gente buscó alternativas.
On the street you can get everything, fruits, vegetables, eggs, cheese, sausages, bread, fish, snacks, used items, perfumes, the variety is endless.
En la calle puedes conseguir de todo, frutas, vegetales, huevos, queso, embutidos, pan, pescado, chucherías, artículos usados, perfumes, la variedad es infinita.
Any empty space will do for these vendors, whether on the street obstructing traffic, in front of an abandoned store, or as street vendors, walking the downtown areas with merchandise in hand and shouting prices.
