I will therefore take us round the globe in a giffey to have a look at some of those historical events that took place on this day, sunday the 20/10/2024 in history.

From Australia, we move over to Libya. Do you also know that on this day in 2011, Muammar al-Qaddafi, Libya's de facto leader, was assassinated by rebel forces following an uprising that received international military support.
From Libya, we move over to the world of oil and natural gas. Now, on this day in 2002, the world's deepest underwater pipeline, Blue Stream, opened in Turkey and is being used to deliver natural gas.
From the world eof oil and natural gas, we move over to the USA. Do you know that on this day in 1968, former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy married Aristotle Onassis, a Greek shipping magnate.
From the USA, we move over to the world of music and entertainment. Now, on this day in 1971, Snoop Dogg, an American rapper and songwriter who rose to prominence in gangsta rap during the 1990s and is often regarded as the pinnacle of West Coast hip-hop culture was born in Long Beach, California, U.S.A.
Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in from the USA. Do you know that on this day in 1803, after much deliberation and oratory, the United States Senate ratified the Louisiana Purchase.
