Hello all Hivians and good people of the Gems community. Most of us may not be aware of some major happenings or events around the globe that took place on this day many years ago. I will therefore take us round the globe in a giffey to have a look at some of those historical events that took place on this day, friday the 25/10/2024 in history.

We begin today from Granada. Do you know that on this day in 1983, under President Ronald Reagan, the United States military invaded Grenada, a small island country.

From Granada, we move over to the Korean peninsula. Do you also know that on this day in 1950, China entered the Korean War on the side of North Korea against South Korea and the United Nations (UN), with the United States serving as the UN's principal participant.

From the Korean peninsula, we move over to the world of music and entertainment. Now, on this day in 1984, Katy Perry, an American pop singer best known for her anthemic and frequently sexually provocative hit songs, as well as her playfully cartoonish sense of style was born in Santa Barbara, California, U.S.A.

From the world of music and entertainment, we move over to Ethiopia. Do you know that on this day in 1940, Abebe Bikila, an Ethiopian marathon runner who won a gold medal and set a world record while running barefoot at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, died in Addis Ababa.

From Ethiopia, we move over to Spain. Now, on this day in 1883, Pablo Picasso, a Spanish expatriate painter, sculptor, printer, ceramicist, and stage designer. He was one of the twentieth century's greatest and most important artists, co-creating Cubism with Georges Braque, died in Málaga, Spain.

Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in history from Romania Michael, Romania's king, and a key figure in the August 1944 coup that severed Romania's ties with the Axis powers, was born in Sinaia, Romania.

My good people, that will be all from me today. Let's do it again tomorrow.
