POBphotocontest New Round: CLOSE-UP

in #hive-1503297 months ago

Here we have a few close-up pictures of Pussy Willows.

They remind me of Q-tips cotton swabs. The name is applied to the North American native deciduous shrub, Salix discolor.

Just before the end of Winter, fuzzy nubs start to appear. These soft silver mounds are actually flowers just before they fully bloom. The soft coating of hairs protects these early bloomers from cold temperatures.

This Pussy Willow is a miniature version.

My wife planted it when her Dad passed away.

It was one of her Dad's favorite plants.
This version is a Weeping Pussy Willow.
It is very different than the wild ones we see hear in Upstate NY.

The wild version of this bush stands much taller
and the branches stay vertical,
sometimes reaching a height of 10 feet or more.

If the grandkids are in town

when these ultra-soft flowers appear,
they will pick some and bring them home to show their friends.

Here is a picture of the Pussy Willow bush from afar.

Maybe you should invite your grandkids over then so they can have more feeling of the flower

Our children have a standing invitation.

What a funny name for a pretty plant😍☺️
They do look like q-tips or cotton buds hanging from a tree.
The third and second to the last photo looks like cute white mushrooms dangling on the tree branches. I don't think we have this kind of tree here in my country. The only one's I see are the cotton plants.
Best of luck in the challenge big bro!

There are fields of them just down the road a piece. When our daughter got married I ran into the landowner and asked him if I could cut some inorder to give to her on that special day. He told me to cut as many as I needed.

Ahhhh! So kind of the landowner. I have to ask, w
Does this flower bring goodluck or something? Because you said you have to give some to your daughter who's going to get married?
But I think this tiny flowers would be perfect as a bride's bouquet since they are white and cute.
Oh, by the way are they fragrant big bro? Just curious that's all.
This is a first for me.
Thanks for sharing.

It was given to her for no particular reason besides it made a beautiful bouquet.

The flower has no smell, just very soft and pure looking.

Have a good day, my friend.

When I myself visit such a rural area, seeing such things brings back a lot of memories.
