Are you used to drinking hot drinks with added sugar? In the area where I live, even in my extended family, since childhood we have been accustomed to being served hot drinks with sugar. For example, hot tea with sugar. That's why we call hot tea drinks sweet tea.
Likewise with coffee. People in my area are used to sweet coffee. In fact, when I drink black coffee without sugar, people say I'm strange.
It is reasonable. People say I'm strange because their habits are different from what I do.
But I stand my ground. I want to consistently reduce sugar. Only occasionally drink sugary drinks. Moreover, most of my grandmother and mother's extended family members are affected by diabetes. That makes me have to consistently live healthier.
Drink coffee without sugar. This relates to The Coffee Shop Prompt this week. About modifying orders at the coffee shop.
This time, I worked from a cozy coffee shop. Feels like home. From the corner of the coffee shop, I'm editing a video for my YouTube video.
You can check out my latest video. This video below also has several language subtitles such as English, and more.
Well, back to the topic, when I order coffee, I always tell the waiter there not to add sugar to my coffee. Only coffee and fresh milk.
Not all waiters and coffee makers understand this. Several times I ordered coffee at a cafe, but instead I got very sweet coffee.
I really appreciate it if there are cafes that serve coffee with separate sugar, such as a small sachet of sugar.
If I'm used to bitter coffee, then it will taste better for me. In fact, if my coffee came sweet, it would be weird.
Because I reduce sugar, I usually order cappuccinos more often than various hot coffees with many variations added with sugar syrup.
For snacks, I prefer to choose ones that are not sweet. Like this one. Brownies, taste like sweet chocolate. In fact, in my opinion it is better paired with hot coffee.
Do you like sweet cakes or plain taste? I think it's all about habit. If you are used to an environment that eats sweet cakes, then it will feel bad. You will always crave for sweet things even if you are not working hard.
For those in the family who are used to food that tastes plain, the strong taste and sweetness will be strange.
So, always remind the waiter in the cafe about the sweeteners that are separated from the coffee. Especially in Indonesia. The waiter will think that the coffee we want is sweet because of the custom in this area of Indonesia.
Do you like bitter coffee? Or you don't even like coffee? Well, share your thoughts with me. Have a great day!
Thank you for reading my blog and reblog if you want my blog this time worthy of reading by others.
