After the snow, the flooding came, which in its self created a mix of challenges and opportunities for the people in my village. The snowfall throughout Saturday night and early Sunday morning melted today, which caused some flooding throughout the village and the local town. As a result, the buses were cancelled, so a lot of bus goers couldn't get out of the village. However, the village cafés, found themselves with more customers for a Monday morning for people who were stuck in the village, so there was a silver lining after all.
I decided not to drive anywhere as I know there's some idiots behind the wheel who don't take care in icy conditions. Instead, I opted for a safer alternative. So, along with a friend of mine, we decided to walk up to the local deli for a hot cup of coffee.
After surviving the walk along the slippery, icy roads, we managed to get there in one piece. Thank goodness they had managed to open up. Luckily, for us, the owner lives in the village. I decided to order a panini filled with cheese, onion, and tomato followed by a black americano. My friend chose a super hot latte, which was perfect for warming your hands on a chilly day.
Instead of the usual complimentary biscoff biscuit, we were given a free mouthful of Christmas cake. My friend doesn't like biscoff biscuits, so she usually passes them to me. Unfortunately, she likes Christmas cake, so I didn't have a double helping. That was a big blow .... 😁
I found myself being watched at one point. My friend's pooch wasn't begging for food but just wanted to be on the same level as everyone else. In other words, I think she wanted to sit on my knee! It's a dog friendly café so the owner gave her a few treats. The owner thanked us for making the effort to get there. We were just pleased they'd been able to open up.
