My 5 cents.

For tea we have obtained special ceramic containers in Chinese style, their low height and wide neck are perfectly designed for in/out operations (not to mention the fact they are stylish - taking tea from them is very pleasant!). But coffee is another deal.

In our household we use this old Nescafe glass jar from 90-es, probably due to our love to old things. Dont get me wrong - we are not in love with Nescafe (nor the brand, neither the fact it is a huge transnational monster, like Amazon; I personally avoid to buy anything from such sellers and dont support their growth as a customer). But 90-es was a harsh period of life when ex-USSR citizens simply tried to survive and used all we could. This jar is kinda a silent witness of an epoch... the first touch to “luxurious” consumer life of the rich West / Europe, lol.

This jar is old and pretty much weared-out, you can see the decorative plastic film is teared up at various spots and peels off, but we simply don’t notice it - our eyes are used to it. And my hands also got used to finding this jar always in the same place, on the shelf next to the coffee grinder. Also, note the jar is flat and takes up little room; available room is rather a deficite at our house, haha.

We obtain coffee beans in economic 1-kg packs, and dont take too much experiments with different sorts of coffee. Well, sometimes we buy this and that too,-- but we know what we like, and most of the time obtain exactly the same packages. I have a _big_ cardboard box under the table to keep these packages, and when the jar became empty I simply refill it from the current open package. As simple as that!

PS. forgot to mention -- dont have any special jar for ground beans at all, lol 😛

Sort:

Your coffee container is a reminder of the nineties.... well, you reminded me of them too because when the USSR disintegrated it was hard for us too, seriously the nineties were hard.
I really liked your glass jar, it is very comfortable to keep the coffee in.

My pleasure! I am a 90-es kid, yeah. 😌 ¡Viva las cosas sencillas y cómodas!

Let me treat you with Hive !PIZZA 😘

Спасибо

😄😄😄 😉

The tea packaging is beautiful and reflects its oriental origin. On the other hand, I think the attachment to old objects is a very traditional custom...I also love old things...they make me nostalgic, @qwerrie

Also its a personal act of anti-consumerizm, which is an evil way actually... leading humankind to deadend, nowhere ☹️
Chinese have the most developed tea culture (which is no surprise). So, if your obsession goes deeper into that - you inevitably will be shopping at Chinese (web) tea stores and enjoy all their achievements, hehe. Lets celebrate it with one of the things Chinese did not have 😁😁😁 (as tomatoes arrived from America) - !PIZZA 🍕 🍕 🍕

At home we drink infusions when we are afraid of complaints.
We drink coffee all the time.

These are gorgeous canisters that look fit for purpose. Also, recycling is a brilliant idea.
Great collection 🙌

Grazie! My pleasure to share something cool looking and inducing a pleasant conversation. 🙏 You may always count me in, when it comes to old things, haha. 😂

count me in, when it comes to old things

I hope that you never have to part ways with them :)))

.... and in a few more decades I will be buried beneath the pile.... ))))))
I see this tendency pretty clear!

I love your tea jars. So beautiful!

This jar is kinda a silent witness of an epoch...

This got me.

This Nescafe jar is a nice little guy; he's seen stuff. You couldn't fire him when there are so many coffee beans to be stored, and continually...

Take the case of this angry cow pot in our kitchen: it has seen some difficult times, so we keep it even though we're not crazy about it; it lacks the interest of your Nescafe jar. I thought I could store my coffee beans there, but as you can see, there's not enough room.

O-ooo! yes, indeed Capacity is over cause there are too many open packages xD

he's seen stuff. You couldn't fire him when there are so many coffee beans to be stored,

Well and elegantly said. I simply cant fire him cause we been together thru all that, I like it. Thank you. Meow!

Hive !PIZZA, by the end of a day. 🐈🐈🐈 Or for the morning coffee!

We like having options. No specialty coffee here, though. Our friends know we love coffee, so we may get some as a gift from time to time.

A slice of pizza with my morning coffee sounds good. Thank you!

ppps. my wife's packages with spices sitting on a kitchen shelf look the same way! we also use clothespins :) but in addition, we also implement a dozen special clamps, they are very convenient... and basically all are taken - they clamp various open bags and tea samples :)))

Lets see if I have some yesterday's !PIZZA leftovers 🍕 🐈🐈

Oh, I'm using everything I can to keep our food safe from bugs. Too many open packages in my cupboard, in the fridge, and in the backyard: human food, animal food, and more 😁

Leftovers are the best! Thank you!

I love the looks of this old Nescafé jar. So rustic! It really can tell stories as you just look at it. I remember this kind of jars back in the days in my parents’ apartment, maybe in the mid 90s. This was a time that you really couldn’t buy a coffee, that was different from the two or three varieties that were all around in the shops. Nescafé was definitely quite an innovative product! 😆

Yes, exactly so. Why throw away old stuff that can tell stories? it is a part of history thats how I look at it. "Now they do not make it like back in old days anymore" (c) Today stuff became more and more disposable, from year to year... 😍 Only !PIZZA stay the same, as good as it was before. And even better!

Pizza, at the restaurants here in Bulgaria is awful… thank god that I cook really good pizza in our pizza oven… 🤷🏻 😁

My condolences! my humble guess it is the natural result of a negative pricing competition dumping. Here in my city (which is big and tourist-friendly and lets face it full of money in some way...) we managed to discover two brands that still struggle to this sorrowful tendency - they dont shift their prices to the bottom, but compete with others with a decent quality = i.e. their pizza is still nice. 😳
