On 23 January, I got around 20 DMS related to my well-being from hivers! What was the issue and why all hivers were worried about my well-being?

One particular dm included this tweet link:

1617489872670920711?s=46&t=IA3aGSuxRL615CNcjZUGdg twitter metadata:ZGlzY2xvc2V0dnx8aHR0cHM6Ly90d2l0dGVyLmNvbS9kaXNjbG9zZXR2L3N0YXR1cy8xNjE3NDg5ODcyNjcwOTIwNzExP3M9NDYmdD1JQTNhR1N1eFJMNjE1Q05jalpVR2RnfA== ~~~

This is clear that everyone was worried about me cause of over-hyped news. It made me blush how Pakistan reminded them of me first. Was it too bad? What was the ground reality and what about me? Let's uncover these questions in this blog.

So, let's go back a bit to 19 Jan:

WhatsApp Image 2023-01-28 at 6.19.48 PM.jpeg

What did you notice? For maintenance, electricity was unavailable for around 10 hours. For someone who survived 10 hours without electricity, 24 hours is not a big deal when they are used to it.

Was this the first blackout in Pakistan's history? Obviously not!
Around 2 years ago, on 10 Jan 2021, Junaid Akram, a Pakistani comedian posted about the blackout:

Here you can see we had a blackout before in the history of Pakistan too. This was not the first blackout. We have much more serious issues in Pakistan compared to more than 24 hours of blackout.

I had written a few blogs about some issues. I know it might not be this serious or haven't gotten any attention like blackout but it will give you a general idea about some of the Pakistani issues:

An Alternative Reality!

I know you all guys were worried but I am suggesting you to stay calm by saying my Nation is used to the ROUGH and TOUGH situations! That brings us to the question how was my BLACKOUT day? Was it me worrying about "the sky is falling"? How was my day spent in the blackout?

Blackout happened between 23 to 24 Jan. On 23rd Jan in after afternoon, we were preparing for our exams. We knew it is a situation which doesn't disturb our normal life routine (no chance of the exam being rescheduled). Our University remains open even in regular conditions and we are allowed to come and study in the library. Our own home had power backup UPS (Universal Power Supply) and our University also had power backup by generators (runs on Petrol). We prepared for our Ethical Engineering exam and came back home to sleep. Similarly, our exam was around 12 in the afternoon so we went to university early around 8 for revision.

Another alternative would be to photocopy our notes and study just with any source of light (for worse conditions). So you see how we gave exam even when we had a blackout? This is the reality of LIFE! :)

After the exam, we knew electricity might still not be available in our homes although the blackout ended so we planned to eat out for relaxation from exam and blackout stress (stress is not a common word in Pakistan, as mentioned in the previous referred blogs mental health issues are not commonly discussed).

CLOSING THOUGHTS:

What you saw or read was to bring your attention to reality without filtered news from any giant media companies. Yes, Pakistan does have problems to deal with but it is also true that our nation is prepared to adjust to difficult situations. Unfortunately, we live in a different environment which might be bad for living standards but also prepare us to be rough and tough. Because of these day-to-day living conditions, Pakistanis can be more competitive to meet deadlines or work extra hours. We do get mental stress or maybe a continuous state of stress or depression but this makes us stronger too. On one hand, we can see it in a negative light but from another perspective, it can be seen as a training environment that prepares us to adapt to anything life throws at us.

Damn that really sucks, I know when the traffic lights go down it just causes madness.. People do not know how to treat them as stop signs.

Hopefully power is restored soon and becomes more stable. I myself am building a solar array on my property, as it seems reliable power is becoming more of an issue every year.

OMG, didn't you know we are used to human traffic wardens? If this is the problem here within short notice, traffic police appear to be humans signing.

maybe u should learn this way for emergency !LOLZ

I myself am building a solar array on my property, as it seems reliable power is becoming more of an issue every year.

I tried building solar panel in my family and even willing to sponsor all expense (yes I have limited money xD), still we live in flats and if we install solar panels on roof top....... well it's not about permission but people damage it. Yup, weirdly people damage public or other people's property. Example, marking a random car with a key or writing on school tables with sharp objects.

If just they haven't damaged solar panel, I would have installed it. If you know any methods of protection from humans (who are willing to do anything to damage it), then let me know.

I hope we will switch from flats to a house to install it in future. I am positive about it.

Ah yeah we have those here too, but normally when the power goes out its restored faster than they could get them out here.

That sucks people would damage it, I hope that never happens to mine.

Best of luck moving to a new house where you can indeed do it through.

Whenever i do it, I will remember to send u a pic. Hive is soo awesome hehe

Glad you are ok my friend!
I read about the blackout this morning.
Hope you can get it fixed and it never happens again.
I remember a few ones here in Spain, in winter is worse, when you can't heat your house.
Take care

Yes, Pakistan does have problems to deal with but it is also true that our nation is prepared to adjust to difficult situations.

Probably most countries have. Especially nowadays. We in Hungary do not have 12 hours blackouts, nor 24 hour blackouts, but we have other problems too. So somehow we all have to deal with difficult situations.

day-to-day living

I live in Hungary, but I also know this very well from personal experience. I was homeless in my life multiple times.

We do our best to handle various situations.

We do get mental stress or maybe a continuous state of stress or depression but this makes us stronger too.

But too much stress can affect people's health negatively. I heard that it can even kill. Better to reduce the stress as much as possible. Or even completely eliminate. I try to do the latter, even in the most difficult situations. Being stressful, upset or angry will not help in none of situations, but it can make the situation worse.

On one hand, we can see it in a negative light but from another perspective, it can be seen as a training environment that prepares us to adapt to anything life throws at us.

Nowadays it is better to expect the unexpected. Who knows what the life will bring to us. Sometimes completely unexpected things, which can be good and bad too (being homeless is bad, but also an experience too). Sometimes some people say that there are no good things, and no bad things either. Everything is as is. Everything is just exists. Neutrally.

The life is a journey, the life is a test, the life is an experience.

Either way, we try to get the best out of every situation.

Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

But too much stress can affect people's health negatively. I heard that it can even kill. Better to reduce the stress as much as possible. Or even completely eliminate.

I can't share much in the comment section but there is too much to say on this topic. Maybe I will write one more time about a suicide incident in details. Modern education system have benefits but giving too much power or control in few hands are effecting this sector. Will share more later through my writing.

The life is a journey,
the life is a test,
the life is an experience.

Well said!

My blog was incomplete without a detailed comment like yours. Thanks for taking out time to read it and comment on it.

It is good to hear that you were prepared for the blackout and had back up means of electricity. Also good to knnow that Pakistanis are resilient people. When one has no choice - adaption is necessary.
I also live in a society where people are tough - however as blackouts are not common - I am sure there would be panicking at first. The solution would come thereafter.

Reading your comment made me think about recommending HL topic as a blackout???

Everybody writing about how they will survive a 24 hours blackout sounds like an interesting topic contest.

But then again most of my topic suggestions never pass community voting. !LOLZ

Why don’t your topic pass the voting? I am sure they are intriguing

People vote for easier topics. My topics always have some sort of difficulty in the topic description.

wow.. eight hours is quite a huge number of hours. my county's condition is somehow more critical because we can go for three to four days without light and it is not even a new thing to the Nigerians again.. Three to four days without light is not longer a surprising stuff to us though it is bad and it's not suppose to be like that but the condition of the country is something else I won't finish talking about it..🥺🥺

the condition of the country is something else I won't finish talking about it..🥺🥺

My ideology is to do good about what's under your control. I hope you will find multiple ways to improve this world. Smile and enjoy life! :)

hahaha... I will make sure to contribute my quota to the world's development 🙏💪

If we only have 12 or 24 hrs blackouts here in my country, no one would complain. It's so terrible here, times we go on a two-week total blackout, and some locations even go far more than two weeks. We are always buying petrol for generators among other issues here in Nigeria but we are surviving...lolz
You Pakistanis are used to electricity 24/7 so when a blackout occurs, it becomes a cause for alarm....it's relatable though👌

We all learn every day. Just like you said, even when a blackout occurs, you will be able to adapt to it without much discomfort.

There are plenty of issues in the whole world today but hopefully, we all would be alright.

Happy Sunday DLM

Thank you for your positive spirit. We can't change things around us but we can change our perspective about uncontrollable events.

You are right Sir✅👍
