This theme made me to think deep into some challenges and things that my dear country went through. A history is a past event that has high significance that one can easily deduced. A history is a remarkable and unforgettable event that leaves mark in the citizens. There are so many events that occured in this country which some were bad whereas others were good.
The one that made sense and i can easily share currently because of the kind of effects it had on the people. From the little insight i received from my secondary school days via my amiable social studies teacher. That Nigeria is a country located in the western sphere of Africa as a continent. It was colonised by the great Britain which predominantly speak English. Currently Nigeria is one of the outstanding countries that we have in Africa. Since the inauguration of this country, there has been different kind of leadership system that came and gone. The county has gone through lots of ups and downs however we are grateful to God for such an opportunity to still be alive.
One of the things that has set record in the country is the kikd of government we practice. There is no provision for succession which affects the continuity in growth and development. This kind of perception alone has made a remarkable impact in the nation.
In 2019 and 2020 history was recorded in the wall of Nigeria where there was a total shut because of COVID-19. This was a great turbulence moment in the whole nation. I got married at the middle of 2019. Towards the end of the year, the news invaded everywhere concerning the advent of COVID-19. It was a season that I can never forget in my entire life. It entered every record that the whole activity in the nation was halted. You dare not move anywhere aimlessly.
I could remember staying at home for a couple of days and months. Man's activity was greatly affected. The rate of consumption of food was high yet no access to get instead you have to suffer before you navigate your way through.
The era affected so many sectors and most private organizations folded because they couldn't absorbed the gross effect caused by this. One of the sectors i would like to share is the system of education. Students couldn't go to school any longer. That was when the invention of alternate means of teaching. The closest school in my area lauched their website and leverage on zoom to deliver all their lessons. Gradually other schools copied same technique. It really took time for the school to recover from such encounters. Schools that weren't built with correct ICT technology couldn't survive it.
The organization i was working with also shutdown from the normal routine work to more advanced ICT program. Most of our clients dropped and switched to online classes. It would interest you to know that my organization made the highest profit and highest attendance since the inception of the organization during COVID-19. The challenge brought a dimension of change along the way.
Some of the health sector we had took advantage of this in collaboration with the government to execute unnecessary projects that has no inclination to the local man. It is sad to say that some used the opportunity to enrich their selves.
One of the changes that could be done is that government should set up good panels to investigate issues before accepting it so that economic activities won't be tampered with like what happened during COVID-19. The country was shut done from all activities including worship areas.
