This is my post for #freewriters 2564 prompt the last command hosted by @mariannewest
Geez, it was cold outside this morning, and inside, outside is 47F, and inside it is 65F. Most will not think that is cold but only 2 days ago we were in the high 80s, and yesterday we were in the 70s, so yes, I say it is cold....
My husband used to sit in the afternoon by his workshop, this is where he liked to drink his beer. Our animals thought he might get lonely so every day they would sit with him. Little One, the cat, on one knee. Beetie-eye-bitch on the other and Bear the Rottweiler sat on the ground next to him.
Bear being the biggest and a Rotty you would think he ruled the roost, nope, Little One ruled and she knew it. She was the oldest and she demanded respect from the dogs.
Doesn't Bear's stance say look at me, I helped get this beast. My husband shot it in our back yard, there was two of them, the one he was shooting at went down and he was sure the other one was hit. He searched until well after dark. The next morning he got the dogs, a Rottweiler and a Dachshund and followed the blood trail, the Dachshund was the one who found it but to look at Bear, you would think it was him.
A few years ago my sister came by with a wild turkey, she was driving on Micco Road when it flew into the front of her car. She said she had never seen so many feathers in the air.
She gave us the turkey to cook. When my husband took it out of the bag, he called for Bear to come see it. That was the last command he said to Bear.
Bear had not been feeling well and when he laid back down, he did not want to get back up. We waited a day and he was not eating or drinking water. We took him to the vet and he was given a shot to put him down. We had him for 12 years. He is missed.
