"They" say the life span of a wild rabbit is one year. I hope they say this because of predators and not that is as long as they live. Rudy is now one year and one month old. I hate to think that he is an old rabbit. He is still playful and he also still loves for only me to pet him.

I took this picture last February. It is the only time I took him outside and it scared him so much that I have never wanted to do that to him again. Some might think it is cruel not to let a rabbit roam in an enclosed area outside but they did not see how scared he was and why should I put him through that again.

I collect four different plants from my yard to feed him. He loves dollar weed and a plant with a flower like a camomile but leaves that look like dandelions. I also have one grass in the yard with wide blades, he loves it the best but so do the wild rabbits in my yard so I do not get much of it. I also feed him dandelions, but I can not feed him too many of them, too much will harm his kidneys. Then, I pick garden vegetables for him. I grow them just for Rudy.

He also likes rose petals. He chewed this hole in the side of his house, I call it his snack hole. I clean his cage every day and while I am cleaning it he will stay inside, he will not even peek out to see what I am doing. But as soon as I start to put his nightly foods in, he will stick his nose out the snack hole and want me to place a small carrot there, it gets yanked inside in a blink of an eye. If I ignore him, he will make his house hop until I place the carrot by his snack hole.

He still will not let my husband pet him, but they play their game. Rudy will peek from his house and my husband makes his fingers run toward Rudy. Rudy will run around his house and attack my husband's hand with his two front feet like he was a boxer. It does not hurt but as he grows my husband says he can kick him harder than he used to kick, also his little toenails are sharp.

I look at him in his cage and still struggle with, did I do the right thing with him or if I should have taken him to a refuge where he could be around other rabbits, but then I think he would not have the best rabbit life he could have without me. I know no one would love him as much as I love him.

Lucky, Rudy! He is in a safe house, and taken well care of.

A wild rabbit has turned into a domestic one!

Thank you, as wild rabbits go, he is lucky.

You've successfully domesticated Rudi and am sure he won't like to leave for the woods.

He would not know other animals can kill him, he is used to seeing our 2 dogs and he is not afraid of them.

Wow, he's fully domesticated. Good for him.

I love your Rudy posts.

You put a veggie garden in just for rudy?

Thank you @owasco
Yes, I grow romaine lettuce, sweet potato vine, carrots, spinach, wheat grass, radish leaves, and a variety of other lettuce. All is for Rudy. He also gets rabbit food and timothy hay from the store.

He is so cute, and it's obvious you care for him so much! Thanks for sharing all these sweet pics.

You're welcome and thank you
He is so loved and I give him the best care that I can give to him.
