This is my post for #freewriters 2645 prompt a familiar feeling hosted by @mariannewest
I have been taking the same pain meds for 30 years, I go to the doctor and he asks how I am doing. At that moment I am not in much pain so I tell him I am doing ok. He gives me the prescriptions or they call them in and I go home.
I tell him that I am ok with little pain but what I do not tell him it is because I am not doing anything. I do not say how I can not stand for more than 10 minutes without pain or how I can not stand up straight after working in the yard. I think it is because I know he will want to run more tests and want me to see more doctors, so unless I am in pain above a level 7 I do not say anything.
I have been doing a lot of thinking about how long I have been taking the pain meds and me turning 70 in a couple of years. I wondered if there was an alternative medicine that I could take other than pharmaceuticals.
First I tried CBD oil, it works for a good night's sleep. Next, I tried the edible gummies, they work at making my body feel loose where I do not need to force myself to do things and it has helped my moodiness and apitite. The only drawback to the edibles is I do not know when it will work. It can be up to and over 2 hours before I feel better.
5 months ago I told my doctor about my eating the edibles and he told me to stop eating them 1 week before I saw him the next time, I did this and failed the drug test. He told me I had to choose which I wanted to take because I could not get my meds if I ate anything with THC. It was fine with him before I failed the test. I told him about what he said on our last visit and he said he did not remember. I could go on and on about our conversation but you get the jest of it. I asked why I can't take THC products and he said because it is marijuana and he would not say anything else about it.
One day I was Googling THC in edible products and read that the Hemp flower that you smoke has less THC in it than the edibles have in them. I think this should make my doctor happy. I ordered it and put some in a little pipe. I was surprised after one puff a familiar feeling came over me. It works fast, with no waiting hours my body felt relaxed and I felt as if I could get up out of my chair and do something, but it has a drawback, you have to smoke it.
