This is my post for #freewriters 2647 prompt flexible head hosted by @mariannewest

My sister called last night and wanted to know if I would help her clean the yard around Mom's house, I told her I would help. She called this morning and said since it has been raining do I want to ride to Vero with her to pick up meds for her friend who has diabetes and on the way home we can stop at yard sales or go to thrift stores, but there were no yard sales because of the rain.

On our way to her friends house, we were waiting our turn at a four-way stop sign, cars were going around a car with its hazard lights on. As we passed the car with the hazard lights my sister, with her flexible head saw it was a young woman and she looked stressed.

We drove to a place to make a safe u-turn and pulled off of the road across from her. We got out and asked if we could help get her car off the road for her. She was happy someone stopped to help. She said she has been on hold with her insurance company and has been sitting there for a while.

When we pushed the car backward, there was a huge oil spot on the road. My sister commented to me that men had been passing her by the entire time and it took us to get turned around and back to her and as soon as we started pushing, the first truck to come by was a man who stopped his truck in the road and helped us push. Why didn't the others stop to help? It was weird that she said that and it happened right afterward.

After pushing the car off the road and thanking the man for his help we told the girl we would be back to check on her and if she could not get help, we would give her a ride home, she lived only ten miles the opposite direction from where we were headed. As we were pulling out a Sherriff truck was pulling up to her.

When we came back she was still sitting in her car and we asked if she needed a ride she told us she had help coming and thanked us for helping her. We told her that we both have been in situations like she was in and we are glad to pass it forward.

On our way home, we stopped at a couple of thrift stores. My sister had been looking for a new chair and could not find one cheap enough. It started to rain and they were rushing to get everything inside out of the rain, the price was 35 but she asked if he would sell it for 25 and the man told her if she took it now, she could have it for 25 dollars. She bought the red one. I liked the blue leather one next to it. But I have enough chairs.

I almost always stop when I see a driver in distress. I, too, am shocked at how few others do. I'm apparently a bit more intimidating, though, as a guy with a beard. Some folks seem to think so, anyway.

I have been stranded and will never pass up someone needing help. I am glad you are the same way.
I did not picture you with a beard, now I have a new vision of you.
In the 42 years I have known him I have never seen my husband without a beard.
