This is my post for #freewriters 2648 prompt state of the world hosted by @mariannewest

What do I have to say about the state of the world? A lot, so why is there nothing in my mind to write about it? Blankness is all that comes to me. I have a lot to say, but nothing to write.

When someone starts carrying on about the state of the world and that is all they want to talk to you about, it gets old. There are other things to talk about, like fleas.

We have tried home remedies like borax for the inside, washing the dogs in dawn dish soap, and spraying the yard with chemicals, but the poor dogs are still full of fleas. Yesterday, while I was gone, my husband took on the state of our world. He went full-on chemical warfare on the fleas.

The dogs were outside when I got home and they were not allowed in the house for another hour. My husband said he treated the yard after I left and kept the dogs inside, then he treated the inside and the dogs had to stay outside until it dries.

The dogs also got a bath, combed, and flea medicine. I hoped all of this poison would work, but last night I could hear one of the dogs chewing at the fleas on her. The other one seemed to rest better, she was lying with her back on the floor and wiggling back and forth while whining from fleas on her, but not last night. This has been an ongoing battle and like I said, we have been trying different things but now they are like the state of the world out of control.

I am so sorry! I had this problem recently, and it took me four months to get on top of it. Here's what finally worked for me:

Confine the dogs to only one room of the house, and put the strongest flea poison you can find into their mouths. Only the prescription stuff works nowadays.

Vacuum everything, every single day, twice. Mop the floors with strong vinegar. Do this until there are no more fleas, which takes a while.

Wash all bedding every single day, because you are taking them into your bed. Wash your slippers. Take your clothes off outside of the bedroom, and don't wear anything from the bedroom outside of it. You need to get at least one room that is flea free or you will go mad.

Treat all rugs or carpets with a mixture of table salt and diatomaceous earth. (Thank you @prydefolz for the salt tip!) Use a scrub brush to work it into the rugs and carpets. Roll up area rugs that you can't put in the washing machine, and wrap them in plastic wrap. Just leave those for a few weeks, then unroll, vacuum, and do it again. For wall to wall, put that stuff on, leave it overnight, vacuum carefully, every inch, and dust them again. Do this every day for a couple weeks.

Clean all dog bedding every single day and put the salt DE on those too.

I wouldn't let the dogs outside off leash for a good while, only on leash walking on sidewalks.

It sucks, I know, but it worked for me.

You could also contact DoMyOwn.com for stronger chemicals and expert advice. They will talk to you.

We used to get a pill that worked from a Halo no kill shelter but they say they were made to stop selling it without a prescription. It sucks that the vet would rather your animals suffer because they are not getting a cut from selling the flea medicine.

The dogs already stay in one room. As for the outside, we have a huge fenced yard that has a lot of wildlife like squirrels and rabbits, opossums, and raccoons who all have fleas, it is a losing battle, but if we can get them killed back where the dogs like to lay outside, that would help.

If what my husband did, does not work, I will try some of your methods, thank you for taking the time to spell it out for me.
