My sister who lives in Connecticut came down for the winter, she will stay until sometime in March, and in February our other sister will be here for 2 weeks. These two are step sisters and older than me, so we were raised together. It will be nice to have all 5 of us together.
Shirley is my Dad's daughter, but Esther is not. She is from Shirley's mom, but her Mom did not want her to care for her, and she came to live with us. Shirley was more of a mom to her than her mom. I think Shirley was around 14 or 15 years old when Esther came to live with us. When Shirley got married, Esther went to live with her.
Yesterday Christine and Shirley surprised me with a visit. They stayed about 3 hours and were having a nice time until a topic came up that I knew would have the worst result. Politics!!!!!
I kept trying to change the subject because we do not agree, and I am okay with that. I know how to let her say what she wants to say without getting into a heated argument.
My husband was sitting there listening and making a comment ever so often, but then it started getting too much for me to listen to and I finally told him that it was enough. He did not say anything until after they left he started going off on the things she was saying and I told him I had heard enough and he got mad at me.
We agree on politics, but I can not listen to him carrying on about how someone else feels about it. I do not think we have the right to tell someone how they should feel.
But after they left, he helped me carry all of my desert roses and orchids into the house and his shop where he hung a light bulb over them for me.
We are not going to have frost but desert roses can be killed if left in temperatures lower than 50 for an extended amount of time. I have tried to find out how long "an extended amount of time" was but found nothing. Before she left my sister showed me on her phone where it was going to drop into the 40s around 10pm and will not be above 50 until after 10am. I consider that to be an extended amount of time.
