This is my post for #freewriters Monday prompt her voice sounded odd hosted by @mariannewst
Years ago the cat in the above picture decided that we were the family that she wanted to live with. We already had two cats that belonged to us and two that were feral that we were feeding. But she thought she belonged here, too.
There was a noise coming from the sideyard, I did not know what it was. I looked and saw this cat being backed down by the other cats, her voice sounded odd. I stood there, watching from the window, Then my cats attacked her. By the time I could get out the front door and around the side of the house, it was an all-out fight, but it was the other cats fighting, she was not fighting back. She was laying on her back, all four feet in the air, making a weird sound and peeing all over herself. I got the other cats away from her and she jumped up and ran off.
Every day she came and went through this torture. I felt so bad for her and did not know what to do. After a couple of weeks of her being beaten each day, I got her to let me pick her up, I took her into the house and this is where she lived for the next 12 years, looking back, I do not think that there were many days that she would go outside.
