This is a 5-minute freewrite in response to the prompt from 1/21/2025 "bury the evidence"

Well, or happened... Better address this now, come clean and begin to heal. Naw, let's bury the evidence and move on instead.

Instead of owning our mistakes, we often simply bury the evidence and try to make ourselves look blameless and competent. It's so easy to cover our tracks and begin to try to make our own way.

Avoiding taking ownership of our issues and confessing our mistakes stops us from growing. A lack of accountability for our actions leads to stagnation and often times we don't do a good job of burying the evidence of our issues- we buy the results of our actions instead.

Like an ostrich putting our heads into the sand, we deny we have a problem. We make excuses and try to please people instead of making much needed changes. It's worse to hide and bury our issues than it is to uncover our damages and head down the path of self reflection we need to undertake.

Age teaches us to take responsibility for our actions and often times we need help to truly overcome issues. Deep seated issues require introspection and a focus on root cause analysis. We cannot continue to grow and be a community member where we live if we are self focused and want to save face by burying the evidence. We need to mature and use our shovels to dig into our issues so the evidence going forward is good evidence of our evolving character.

A maxin our politicians need to live by, but they can't they'll get sued.

True. We need to hold our leaders to a high standard and work with them to fix issues locally.
