I used to think that I needed time to be creative.
In fact, I think that’s a fairly common misconception about creativity.
But since having three children, working six days a week and plenty of overtime for years, I find myself much more productive and creative than I was when I was single and had loads of free time.
There are, of course, many creative activities that do take time and that are much easier to do with the appropriate tools and space, but to use lack of time as an excuse to not create, I think that is a mistake.
You begin with what you have, the tools, the materials and the pockets of time that are at your disposal, and you find a way.
From there, maybe you can make a better space for yourself, maybe you can buy yourself the tools and materials that you really want to work with, and maybe, just maybe you can earn yourself more time to spend on your creative pursuits.
What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments.
the train tracks lead to
infinity
the river sparkles
eyes I can’t look into
in front of our house
my son says bye bye
to turn on
the AC
I build my shelves
with character
since you’ve told me your stories
nighttime rain
flying so high
straight into the storm
