The final half season of Cobra Kai is back and in a way I don't want to watch it, for the simple reason that I kind of don't want the show to end.
The Show
All things come to an end, and after so many years it's time for Cobra Kai to come to a close.
I like the characters, and the story in general. It's kind of crazy looking back and thinking about the previous seasons and story so far. We've seen this turn from a mentor teaching a kid how to defend himself, and from there it has morphed.
It subtly deals with topics such as letting go of the past, and also sticking up for yourself. One "lesson" if you can call it that has to be the character Hawk, who has a cleft lip, and was shy about it, until Johnny tells him to do something that takes attention away from it, and then he comes back with a mohawk.
It was kind of a funny scene, seeing this nerdy guy come out with such a mad fashion choice. But, the crazy thing is, it actually did take away from his lip, to the point that me and Aimee had both forgotten/ not realised he still had it.
I thought that was cool, and it really stuck with me above all else.
The Final Season
We started off strong with the sekai taikai being canceled due to the death at the end of the last season. During this episode we saw that characters funeral, and everyone is down due to the news, until Silver talks with one of the judges who decides that the compition will go ahead as long as everyone agrees.
You know they did, in the end. Because we need a badass karate competition to end this season - and show - on a high.
Where Could This Show Go?
I have a feeling, and it's only because of the world wide competition they brought into this last season, where they show dojos from around the world.
They could potentially bring out a spin-off show following a dojo in another country, and focus on a new mentor/ mentors, beefs they have, and it could be about the students they manage to train.
Just a thought, but it seems the only way they can continue this IP and expand on it. There is an audience for it, especially if they follow the same light-hearted style.
