Burning Profits Working Overtime Again Tonight

in #hive-16792212 days ago

The textile waste I was going to dump we have now used it all up and have since received a second batch. This has saved the business so I am happy we kept it.

Tonight and tomorrow we are working late with the hope this will be the last overtime we need to do. The textile waste material is still one week out from being delivered and that will be the game changer. I still cannot believe we are still waiting for something we paid for 8 weeks ago. This is why suppliers need to be open and honest with you from day one and not play a guessing game.

The material which I was suppose to have thrown away because it was too costly to compact has bee the lifesaver for now and I have started collecting more which is how ridiculous this situation is. I cannot complain or even push our suppliers until I visit them and understand what I am dealing with.

I have not looked for alternative suppliers just yet because I have already done this exercise once that took many months with the final result with the suppliers we are now waiting on. I am hopeful this slow period was down to them not being open and honest with the time lines because this cannot be happening every month.

The business is still profitable with the hard to compact textile material, but I would like the business to be making far more without having to throw money away due to working late paying overtime and meals. Teething problems are expected in any business start up ,but the you work through them and move on. We are at the stage where we cannot move on until this is resolved ad I am finding it frustrating knowing how much money is being tossed away.

I am someone who will find any company or business savings and this goes against everything I stand for and believe in yet I did not see this coming because this is not normal business practice I have encountered. Maybe once I have visited my suppliers factory I will be able to make head or tail of what is going on ad have to remain positive for now even though this would be a red flag if I had alternative suppliers.

The problem s when the core component of your business being textile waste is hard to find you sometimes have to have patience. The looking for an alternative supplier is going to be a must do task anyway so I am not finding myself in this position again.

The orders for our product are not the problem and expect to complete the latest 15 tons ready for delivery by Monday. The next order is the problem however which we have not yet received ad will put us under time pressure to have completed before the end of the month. The textile waste order should be delivered by sometime next week and then we should be fine.

The other thought in the back of my head is the December shut downs with many factories closing from the 9th/10th until the 2 nd week in January. We do not close for the festive season besides a few days and fulfilling orders will still be required. No one has even raised this issue and I already know it is going to be an issue and I need our supplier to pull through.

have things just recently become this way with unreliable suppliers or has it always been like this?

No this is a new supplier and they wee not truthful from the beginning. I spoke with them on Friday and they have nearly completed the first order. Their product is specialized and no one else does what they do and I want every kilogram they produce. I think it will become easier once we get the first order or I hope it does become easier.
