Stopped The Enable Ads On PeakD

in #hive-1679224 days ago

Over the last few weeks my laptop has been running kind of rough freezing and not responding and then suddenly all is ok. I noticed on Peak D the adverts seemed to be continuously reloading which made the page jump and guess a update on my computer could have done this. I knew this was not normal and had changed the settings a few months ago where I enabled the ads so Peak D could earn extra rewards as finding other revenue sources is important.

Yesterday evening I switched off the enable ads feature and the laptop freezing issues have all vanished. I am not of a fan of ads anyway so I will not be switching the feature back on unless it gets fixed and even then maybe not. I did my bit and it did not workout and it made my HIVE experience less enjoyable.

Viewing adverts is an obvious way an online site can make money even if it is a few HIVE/Dollars daily. The dream would be for HIVE one day to have millions of active users and we are still a long way off.

Google being a great example over the last 22 years has grown it's advertising revenue from $70 million to $238 billion in 2023. This is what happens when we see true adoption and the masses use your services

This brings me on to what some sites are earning from their page view deals and why the numbers are important and it can be very lucrative.

Above is the graph showing by time in days the fastest to 100 million views on YouTube which the fastest being around 22 hours. This would be worth in advertising revenue generated between $100K and $400K with many factors such as engagement etc influencing this.

Social media is big business if you have the numbers and HIVE being monetized through it's reward system is falling short. The problem I see is people do not know about HIVE and have no idea what it even offers. Why would people be using Face Book if there is no monetary return when Face Book take all the money generated for themselves. They earn in excess of $100 billon per annum which is the equivalent of more than $273 million per day which is nuts.

HIVE does not need 3 billion users daily like Face Book or 611 million users like Twitter (X) has daily and just having 100K daily users would be a good starting point as that is a base you can grow and expand to achieving 1 million. All it takes is one DApp to go viral and who knows if and when that will happen and all we can do is to keep trying. One idea that catches the attention and imagination is what we are looking for and why development is the key to unlocking the HIVE eco systems wealth. I do think with what we already have we are good enough to have a much larger user base than what we currently have and we need some decent marketing campaigns.

I'd love to see 100K active users. Definitely a good place to start. Sadly, it doesn't feel like people care though.

Yes, Crypto is still a very niche thing and HIVE is a niche within crypto as nobody knows about it even in crypto. More than that, unless you know what to search for you cannot even find HIVE in Google easily. Look at my top results for searching "Hive":

I never even heard of number one result. Number two result is something I hard crypto influencers talk about that is basically an AI Agent platform that is fairly new, then apache Hive and then some hive modern, really?!

Nobody talks about HIVE in crypto community and we can hardly be found from organic Google search. Are we the best kept secret? :)

I have thoughts, will write em up and link back :)

Build a sports betting app.. I'll bring 100K MAU myself.. were gonna set the over/ under a bit lower than that though..

Say we set the line at +4.5

I have an idea for crypto tax app and hoping on my next trip to get the ideas down and be legal. This would all be tied to HIVE with your HIVE account registered as a business in a tax haven. We shall see where this leads and if it can work legally which I do think it can.

I get the ads on my iPad (where I do my reading at night, after I've turned the lights out and am supposed to be sleeping😁). They do not interfere at all with my reading. No glitches. So, I'm OK with them, and, as you say, Hive gets more money. Does anyone ever look at those ads? I don't understand the advertising strategy, unless these operate on a subliminal level.
