The Tipping Point

in #hive-1679222 years ago

Being on Hive for the last 57 months the way you earn changes and will continue to change as you grow your stake. I think this is great as the account evolves into something way bigger than expected.

When you first start out your vote holds little to no value and is basically throwing shrapnel around leaving the 0.002 vote value around. This doesn't even register and still reads 0.0 when you have commented and voted. You may think this is a waste of time, but you need to stick with it as over time that will change.

Another 25% or so from curation and I will have overtaken my average posting rewards. This was never even a thought 1 year ago as it is not something on your radar.

Last year I was earning about 33% of my overall weekly earnings from curation and that will eventually become a 50/50 split unless somehow you grow your support. This is the tipping point when you are earning more from supporting others than using your creative mind posting regularly.

The tipping point of earning more from curation is actually a good thing really as it tells you your stake is generating a decent return. This could easily turn into a proper passive income earner over time and this is only the beginning.

The effects of compounding along with earning a 3% APR starts to really come into it's own as the stake grows in size. This combined with a vote value increasing regularly bodes well for account growth as these are all factors that have played their part in getting you to this point.

Growth should start to speed up if you consider the how slow growth was for the first part of your Hive career as posting was the main source of growth. I am not quite at the tipping point but should be there some time next year which is something to look forward to.

Currently having a vote value of 3.65 Hive or on the 50/50 curation a vote growth of 1.825 Hive per 100% vote and 1.825 for those I am voting on. I need to earn 18 Hive every day from posting to stay ahead for now. This is only a matter of tie before that will be impossible to maintain and a challenge I am happy to lose.

Earning 18 Hive per day from curation along with over 6 Hive (APR) amounts to over 700 Hive per month just because you are holding stake. These are significant numbers when the platform expands reducing the amount being earned in the reward pool as the user base has grown.

This is why thinking long term anything is possible as these are not things you even contemplate as you don't know about them until it starts to happen. The next target is to hold a 4 Hive vote and onwards and upwards from there. Over the next 5 years I wouldn't even guess how much growth is possible and just take each day as it comes. The hard work is not over as the effort and time required has to be the same as that is all part of the consistency being maintained.

It is all about sticking to what you do being consistent and engaging or putting efforts.

I realized whoever who's stake is Good enough that bring em more rewards are totally worth it as they had spend time started from zero same like me or other.

Would see things with wide open eyes for long term. Encouraging Read. Much appreciate.

I was just thinking about this as I went for my evening walk... very true! Just have to stick with it!

Yes it is not obvious until it starts to get momentum as your stake grows. I have only started noticing how as a percentage it is becoming more important each month.

These are goals for me and I will get there. You've shown what's possible, and this time it won't pass me by

Yes you will and good on you as we can do this.

I'm surprised uou have less than 2k followers. More should be following you as you are always sharing really good advise or talking about sensible and workable strategies. I'm a long way behind you, but I've certainly closed the gap this year and 8k vs 75k seems so much better than 2k vs 62K. Onwards and upwards.

Not everyone is here to grow obviously lol. I would follow me if I was looking to grow. Yes you will grow and this will start to speed up as you grow the stake.

Sorry missed your comment, just catching up on replies now! Been very busy in every aspect of life!

Yes you will grow and this will start to speed up as you grow the stake.

I remember you saying this before and I am starting to notice it now, suddenly my curation is making me some noticeable additional revenue which is brilliant!

I need to dig into my curation numbers again sometime when I get a chance. I don't think it will change the way I do things too much. I enjoy doing the manual curation and stuff. I remember trying to chase the curation rewards and it was just too much work. It's amazing the opportunities we have here on Hive.

It really is

Yes I remember, but manual curation is still the way to go.

I'm honestly quite amazed to see you after those long years still very active here everyday. If only I continued here I could've achieve a percentage of what you achieved.

Just a second thought, by what you mean curation, does it also include your curation rewards for curating OCD vote-worthy posts in sportstalk? Or you're mainly talking about the curation rewards from your HP stake?

Only my stake. Yes staying active works for long term growth.
