What Is GHAWG?

#GHAWG is short for "God's Hog: A Watchful Guardian." This fictional story tells how David Guardia, a courier and business owner from Bayonne, New Jersey, US moved into the next phase of his life after spending the final ten years of his ailing father's life helping him.

"3 months ago I nearly died after I avoided Chicago. 3 weeks ago I began my ride from L. A. to Chicago. 3 minutes ago I heard your next mayor pledge to serve you, to bring healing & recovery to this once-and-future great city."

🏍️ David Guardia begins his prophecy by recounting highlights of his Epic Ride. First, during the segment when the uncanny Manny Rey was his co-pilot, he rode through Illinois as quickly as possible precisely to avoid whatever civil unrest was taking place then. Second, he rode the legendary Route 66 eastward from Los Angeles, California, US to Chicago, Illinois, US. This time, he speaks of Terry Leo, the rare Republican politician in a supermajority (hypermajority?) Democrat city, as if he was already elected mayor.

Terry Leo looked at me with shock as he heard me declare his future status with the certainty of someone stating that two plus two equals four. Everyone else looked at Terry Leo. Aníbal Rivera's jaw dropped as he heard me speak.

🏍️ Right off the bat, David Guardia throws the people of Chicago for a loop as he declares The Lord's intention that Terry Leo become Mayor of Chicago in the upcoming election which is still more than a year away. Under normal circumstances, expecting a Republican winning election to any city office in Chicago is like expecting the Washington Generals to defeat the Harlem Globetrotters in one of their exhibition games of basketball: it simply never happens. Even if this outcome takes place-- and it will, because that's how fiction writing works!-- it will seem to the people to be far from a sure thing. Terry Leo will have his low points and perhaps a scandal or three to overcome. Yet overcome scandal he will.

"To show you that those words came from The Lord and not my own mouth, here is The Lord manifesting His Power through me."

First, I hurled one cement milkshake to the ground to demonstrate the potential danger they presented.

🏍️ David Guardia begins to show the people assembled at the Obama Presidential Library that he speaks on behalf of The Lord. He prepares to perform a display of physical power in the way a magician prepares an audience for a person to be cut in half before being made whole once again. In this case, he takes a cement milkshake-- a beverage container with cement in place of or mixed with a beverage-- to show how hard the object is.

Next, I took the remaining cement milkshakes but one and pulverized each with a squeeze of my hands. They were crushed in the same way as the cement milkshake which I hurled to the ground. It took me 2 minutes to destroy these.

🏍️ Had I published this zapfic entry on 2024-December-23, I would have described this as a "feat of strength" required for the observance of the secular holiday Festivus. During the time the uncanny Manny Rey was David Guardia's co-pilot, we see the co-pilot, squeeze a glass bottle until it broke, striking fear into the hearts of people who meant to do harm. Much later, we see Lindsay Etxeberria witness David do something similar as he channeled his earlier co-pilot. This time, the action is taken to a higher level. Unlike the previous two occasions which were limited to a few people, this time it was on display for the entire world to see.

1 cement milkshake was left to be pulverized. For this one, rather than squeeze it to dust as I had the others, I crushed it against my forehead is it were an empty can of beer. The assembly gasped at this display of raw power.

🏍️ There are scenes in the 1978 movie Animal House where Bluto (played by Chicago native John Belushi) crushes empty beer cans against his head. This is what I was thinking of when I wrote this zapfic entry. Coincidentally, John Belushi also portrayed Jake Blues, one half of the singing duo The Blues Brothers who starred in the 1980 movie of the same name. The Blues Brothers hailed from Chicago, Illinois, US.

"Crime & corruption had become part of the fabric of Chicago life," I continued. "This also included both senseless killings & deliberate executions. Along the way, Chicagoans just gave up & bent over to take it deep & hard."

🏍️ After the feats of strength better suited for Festivus, David Guardia resumes delivering prophecy to the people of Chicago-- its residents, its representatives in government, and even its interlopers. In this zapfic entry, he's using language which is raw and suggestive to drive home the point.

"In recent years, Chicagoans began to question life in this city. You began to realize it didn't have to be that way. Due to external factors in recent years, even the gangs realized they can't accept things as they were going."

🏍️ For a long time, the people of Chicago were living under conditions which they had accepted as simply "the way is is". It took outside forces to get the people of 2028 GHAWG Chicago to see that their living conditions were unacceptable and that they could do something about it. Unexpectedly, it was the gangs who had plagued Chicago who would become champions of the natives of this major city.
