Celebrating with the whole family during birthdays is the greatest gift a person can ever receive, especially for our oldies. When every child makes an effort to travel to where their oldies are to prepare for something amazing, something unforgettable, and something fun. And this is what I witnessed at the birthday celebration we attended. It was Nang Helen's birthday, and it is one fun happy celebration, especially she gets to celebrate her 80th birthday with her family. Some of her children couldn't make it, but most of them took time and celebrated her birthday with her. And I'm so happy to attend such a sweet celebration.
It was 1 in the afternoon on Sunday when Mom called for Mama downstairs. She's shouting that I thought someone she knew passed away, and she wants to share it with Mama. This happened a lot of times already, so I really thought that's the reason. And because I kinda want to know what's happening, I followed Mom and listened to their talk. I learned that it's actually because Nang Helen invited us to her 80th birthday celebration at their house, and Mom wants to bring Mama. Mommy D doesn't want to come, so it's just us, three. Mom didn't really ask me anymore, it's automatic, I will accompany her whether I like it or not. Well, it's not like I don't want to go, who will ever say no to free foods, right?
And because it's just nearby, we decided to just walk. The schedule was at 3:30 pm, really a perfect time to go attend and have an afternoon snack, errrrrr, it could be an early dinner too. Lol. But Mom was so excited that she decided to go at 2:40 pm. Her reason is that we'll have to walk, so it's better to go earlier. I am super glad that the weather is just okay, there's a light rain but not that strong to stop us. Even a cap can protect us from this light rain. And we take our time walking, it's just like we are walking under the moon, watching stars. But there's no stars in there but rain, lolol.
We were already near our destination when I let go of Mom to walk on her own. Then I take my sweet time taking photos. It's not a lot, I just took a scene that I think is so pretty just to let it pass without capturing and sharing it with everyone. There's a wood attached to the tree, so I think it's meant as a resting chair. I'll gladly sit in there if I live nearby. For sure, I can feel the cold and fresh breeze under that beautiful tree.
But anyways, we finally arrived in Nang Helen's house (☞^o^) ☞. We arrived there after 10 minutes of walking, it should be just 5, lol. There's already a lot of people inside, but the program hasn't started yet. I think they are relatives, friends, and friends of friends. We are just right on time.
But what caught my attention the most was those beautiful ladies in their green gown. I heard they will do "putong," or crowning to the birthday celebrant. When the program starts, they are the first to act, singing and dancing for the celebrant. They are singing a Tagalog song with which I am not familiar, but I like it.
While they are singing and dancing, this ice cream man decided to give us some ice cream. Who am I to say no to sweet dessert? Lol. Like, seriously, a dessert before the main course? Well, still, it's not that bad. It's from Wawit Ice Cream and Halo-Halo. I already shared that shop here. And the owner of that ice cream shop is one of the children of Nang Helen. ┏(^0^)┛
Here's the yummy ice cream, it is a combination of peanut, durian, and jackfruit. I love the bits of fruit I can eat on the ice cream. But because I can't really taste it, I just base it on its texture. It's good, I'm not sure about the flavor though. But seeing people, from adults to kids, love it, then it is safe to assume that it is good. Seeing this made me crave it now. Aigooo.
We are just watching the kids and grandkids of Nang Helen greet her while we're eating at the back. It's really just sweet that they go back home for that special day, each given a sweet message for her. I'm sure the she is super happy (ʘᴗʘ✿).
And finally, the feast started. There's a lot of food in front, but I have to put what I can only eat on my plate. We don't want to waste some food, yeah? Hehe. So I had their Caldereta, Chicken Curry, Bibingka, Putopao and Maja Blanca - and oh, there's a fried chicken too, but I gave it to Mom because I can't eat more. Lol. The foods taste good, especially the "kakanin." They actually have lechon, too bad I couldn't get some, huhu. They have sweets too, for kids, and fruits. As for the juice, they have cucumber juice, which I really like.
After eating, we decided to stay a bit more, actually, we didn't have a choice because it started to rain again. So Mom had a talk to people she knows in there while we were just waiting for her at the back. She also has this cute mug as a souvenir. I tease Mom that it's not for the visitors, it's for those who dance and sing for her. But she just said it's a remembrance (≧▽≦).
By the way, Happy Hive Power Up Day everyone! I power up 15 Hive this morning and here's the total of my HP as of November 1, 2024.
