It was oft said that Anoria could be coy
peering from parasols and giving sideways glances from fluttering lashes.
A new hat or the fresh pleats of a Worth gown gave any gal an impish feeling
One made excuses for coy behavior when one was a mermaid with a Koi tail
I love to draw mermaids but I also love to play with the fantasy of it. I mean such creatures are of Fantasy so why not play about?
I Love historical fashion
And the 1870s are one of my favorite. After the full hooped gowns of the '60s and before the large bottoms of the bustled 80's were the mid 1870's when skirts were gathered at the back and draped and beribboned and pleated trains abounded.
To me such a gown deserved a unique mermaid and so a Koi tail for a Coy lass
After I sketch and play with a piece I scan it for digital work and the first bit of fun is just filling it with Pop art color.
The freedom of making shapes and outlining and adding colour by filling and then moving it about has an odd freedom after sketching and erasing on paper.
The combination of old and new tools, however, seem to just accompany one another
I suppose much the same way I happily live in the modern age or Victorian quite easily, Time, after all, is often a construct or sometimes a slippery beast like a Coy Koi mermaid in the sea, slipping through one's grasp.
I hope you enjoyed my Coy Koi mermaid and her flirtatious manner. I also hope you can find a moment in your day to indulge in your own passions and as always stay creative.
