Will I be participating this year? Nah, I did it last year though, it was fun and stressful but totally worth it.
I LIED😪 Well, it's really difficult to resist it especially when your social media feed is filled with it. I realized I suffered burnout from last years challenge mostly because I did it digitally, staring at the screen for long hours everyday took a toll on me.
Inktober is an interesting challenge no doubt, I've been drawing based on the prompt since the beginning of October and it's been fun so far.
No pressure, no overthinking, just me, my sketchbook and pen/pencils.
When I started drawing on this new sketchbook, my goal has aways been to draw a variety of things and this challenge is the best way to achieve that, here's what I came up with for seven days.
One thing I love about this challenge is that it puts my brain to work, how do I execute this prompt? When I saw the first prompt, I didn't know what to draw but no excuses. I just drew a girl sleeping and added stars and moon, I'm sure she's having a beautiful dream.
I was happy to see an animal in the prompt list, I remember drawing a Spider some weeks back and this was an opportunity to do it again from different angles, my coloured pencils I totally forgot about became useful.
Why haven't I ever thought about trying out basic landscape/environment drawings with a pen? This is obviously a first and I didn't know I could pull it off, this one was fun and I will do it again and again.
Dodge! Knowing the meaning of a word is one thing, drawing it is another. I thought about a girl going on a run, let's assume some kids playing around mistakenly threw a ball and rock her way not knowing she was there, she dodged😁
Map is an easy thing to draw, I thought of drawing the African map but decided against it. Would you love to go on a treasure hunt? That's a big YES for me, here's a treasure map to nowhere😅 You can find a chest, some coins, gold crown but don't forget the dangers though😉
This was the exact point where I appreciated keeping my coloured pencils. Does it look Golden though? I know the pencils aren't really as bright as the original ones but it worked.
Finally for today, Drip!! I figured out what I wanted to do with this prompt quite fast. I may not be an expert when it comes to drawing hands, I still did it. The whole point of this challenge is to draw everyday, practice and be better..
