@steevc just finished a 4.42km run, that lasted for 29 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 345.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
I confess that it is about seven weeks since my last run. It was after that one that I hurt my back in the shower. I was just not sure when to start again, but I have done a fair bit of walking and climbed a big hill a couple of times over Christmas without suffering too much. My back is still not 100%, but I think that a little gentle running may be good for me.

It is still quite mild here, but cold weather is coming this week. I decided to just run around the village to see how it felt. Once I got going it was not too bad, so I continued and just wandered down various streets. I went up on the footbridge and saw a train go through. That one does not stop here as I can tell from it being on the middle tracks. I think it is an express to Scotland.

I noticed some signs just up the road for another housing development. That has been expected for a while, so we shall see how it goes. Their plan is to connect up several estates to the west of the High Street. That could help the traffic flow and give me another running route.

I went out in my new running shoes. This is another pair from Allbirds that I got in their sale. They are similar to my old ones and comfortable from the start. I did some extra stretching before and after the run today to reduce my risk of further injury.

I may try parkrun this week, but will take it steady as I build up my fitness again. I have been doing some exercises like press-ups and squats, but running fitness comes from running.

Happy running in 2025.

Jazzy shoes! They good then?

I find them comfortable. They may not get rated for top performance, but they have better green credentials than some others. I will wear out a pair every year, so that matters.

Good stuff, I always get the asics from the outlet site but open to trying other brands

With time and consistency you will get back 100% full back recovery. Do not relent

You are going fast and great to do over 4km in less than 30 minutes.

I feel like I haven't had the lung capacity I used to since before I had Covid. My back is doing better, but I just run out of breath so quickly when I try to go very fast on the treadmill. Nice job on your run! It's good you were able to get back to it.

I'm not sure if I can blame COVID for my fitness, but I'll try to improve anyway.
