@steevc just finished a 8.38km run, that lasted for 54 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 626.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
I was due to help at parkrun yesterday, but it was cancelled due to freezing conditions. It was around -5C, so I was a little glad not to be standing around in that. I see on Strava that some people went to Letchworth, but I did not run. I did get some exercise installing some new fence panels. Those need lifting above head height to slot into the concrete posts and son was around to help.

It was a couple of degrees 'warmer' this morning and I managed to drag myself out of bed for a run. I opted for my warmer top plus hat and gloves (by Ron Hill). It was time to try the regular loop around the villages, but I kept it short for now. My GPS had some glitches near home, but I think the distance is about right.

It was really frosty and I was watching where I stepped. Some parts were clear, but there was some ice around. It has not rained in a while, so there are no real puddles. At this time of year I need to remember to bring in the chicken's water or it will freeze solid. We got new bird feeders yesterday and put out water for them too.

I saw a couple of other runners braving the cold. One guy I saw twice as we went in opposite directions around the loop. It was fairly hard work for me as I am still building my fitness back up. I am seriously thinking of joining the nearby gym to do more strength work. My son is a PT, so I will get some tips from him.

The distance was enough for me today. Breathing that cold air does not help matters, but I felt fine. Once I warm up I do not feel the cold too much.

Podcast listening was Add To Playlist (nice BBC show talking about music), Somewhere On Earth (tech news from around the world) and Drum with Mike and Eddie (can you guess?).

I may stay in today, but there are things to do around the house. Have a great day whatever you do.

Run free.

When you decided to come out of the comfort of the bed to make a run, you were already a winner. You raised the bar after running for 53 minutes!!! Quite impressive, Steve!!

there is no way I would get out of bed with that weather! hahaha

It's warmed up a little now. Just have to get on with things.

In weather like this you really have to watch where you step man, you don't want to get hurt. When I was a kid, I got a bloody head one winter night when I stepped on ice. It was a terrible night, we went to the neighbor's in the middle of the night for tincture of iodine.

I've had plenty of people worried about my safety here, but I'm very careful

That's awesome, my friend! I usually enjoy going for long walks, but running definitely has its own benefits (and I hope to start doing it in the future). It's great that you don’t let anything stop you from your morning exercise. Today, my brother and I also went out for a long walk, even though it was colder than what I thought and I wasn’t even prepared, it still felt really good. Thanks for sharing such a motivational post with us. :)

I enjoy my running and like to post about it. If it inspires someone then that's a bonus. There are other people here who run a lot more than me.

I appreciate what you are doing mate, I usually check the feeds and recent posts, trying to look at what I can find interesting on Hive, but I haven't seen other runners yet, since I am not so deep into sports and exercises :D yet I like sports.

Nice pace! Kudos for going out of bed to run in that cold; I should run more consistently, but seem to fall short of time every week. Definitely an afternoon person though, unlikely I'll run in the morning unless I'm trying to escape something! :)
