Internship done
Another month has come, and now I can finally say that our internship ended. It took us 6 weeks this summer to finish it and it really ate our summer vacation It also put a fire in our pocket as we spent a lot on it.
On the other hand, I would say that it was really worth it because we were exposed to the real-life application of our course especially since we are going to the site as trainees in the civil engineering field. We learned a lot from engineers mostly on site and paper works.
Also, I had to live with my friends for the whole internship and it was also one of the best experiences as we learned more from each other and bonded more. We made a lot of memories together and learned to be independent and manage our finances.
I might be writing a separate blog post about the whole internship soon and then publish it on my blog for life documentation.
Job interview
As I am always saying, I always look for ways to earn money because we are struggling financially. There are times that I am having fun with my friends but rest assured that I spend what I put into my budget and try to be financially responsible.
Last week, someone sent me a message on LinkedIn that they are looking for someone to take a Senior Content Writer position for their company. I immediately replied and sent an email for the requirements needed. Fortunately, they replied back and we set an initial interview that happened earlier, August 1, 2024.
I thought I could finally land a job but the interviewer told me that it was a full-time job position and I had to work on a fixed-time schedule which is 12:00-8:00 PM Manila Time.
I wanted to take the job but since we are going back to school next week, I don’t think I can take it as I want to respect the given working hours. I told them that I have to prioritize my studies and can’t handle the schedule because it might overlap my classes.
As of now, I am still looking for a part-time or flexible time job opportunity. This could be anything but I prefer to become a writer or SEO strategist (I prefer the latter). Furthermore, I want to upskill and look for any job as long as I can learn how to do it.
Back to school
Next week, August 5, 2024, will be the first day of school. This means that I will be busy again because we will be having a Research subject or thesis + I also have to deal with the completion of requirements for having an INC grade last semester.
I also have to deal with other major subjects and terror professors. I just hope that this year will be easier compared to last year when we were barely living because of the school work and deadlines.
But I doubt it, knowing that we have a thesis then pre-board by next semester. But I am still hoping, and I want to graduate on time so I wish to pass all subjects and avoid a failed grade because I don’t want to spend another year in school.
My calculator
This is another item added to my expenses. My calculator broke and it is not fully functional right now. So, I have to buy a new one which is around PHP 1,900.00. I thought my current calculator would be useful from my first year until I finish my degree.

Nevertheless, I can’t use the same style as that calculator on the board exam so I really have to buy another one soon…but you know, I don’t want to spend more. I am buying the same unit and brand which is Canon F786-SGA which is the recommended calculator in my course but now, I will be buying transparent because it is the one allowed in the board exam that I can use soon. My current calculator is the same unit and brand but non-transparent that I bought during my first year. The transparent one was released when I was second year if I am not mistaken.
So, for now, I am planning to withdraw my current HBD balance which is around 22 HBD, and buy a new one on Sunday before that class starts. I should really buy it because it is essential for my course.
August plans
When it comes to the Hive community, I want to be active again and start writing more compared to before. I want to be noticed by other users, make more friends, and increase my social currency.
As of now, I want to fully engage to different communities and participate to contests. This way, I can achieve my Hive power goals on my ideal date.
Also, I cannot promise now that I will not spend some of my earnings here. Things are getting worse and I might need more financial assistance so I might cut some of my earnings here for my needs on school.
As I said, our thesis will start this semester and our professors advised us to conduct an experimental type of research. This means that we are going to spend a lot of money on testing and transportation soon.
Also, my parents cannot handle the expenses right now. I don’t want to add more burden to them and wanted to help so I might continue writing here but rest assured that I won’t get 100% of my earnings for cash out. It could be 20-50% of my earnings.
But I will do my best not to spend my earnings here and do my best to find other ways to earn and add more income streams.
