This week's been a gift, thanks to Eid al-Fitr stretching all the way to April 15th. While I don't celebrate myself, I gotta say, it's a fantastic time. Big shout out to all my Muslim friends – Happy Eid!
The best perk? No crazy early mornings for work, which means more quality time with the fam. Take two days ago, for instance. After wrestling the room back into shape (you know how kids are!), I found myself hanging out with my munchkins, Ina and Ade.
The energy in the room crackled that morning. Ina and Ade were like fizzy candies that had just been popped – bouncing around with uncontainable excitement. Turns out, Ina had been practicing a dance routine for some kind of promotion exam at her studio. Picture this: she's busting a move, totally focused, when little Ade comes barreling in, ready to play. Forget the dance moves, big sis duty called!
Our living room, right off the east-facing terrace, was flooded with morning light that day. It wasn't just your average light, though. As the sun peeked over the horizon, the rays bounced around the room, creating this amazing effect on the floor. The polished tiles we have somehow transformed – they looked almost like a giant sheet of glass reflecting everything around it. It was stunning!
Luckily, my phone was within reach, so I managed to snag some pictures of that perfect moment. The beautiful morning light, bouncing off our "glass floor," cast an ethereal glow on the entire room. And right in the center of it all were Ina and Ade, giggling and wrestling – a beautiful moment of pure sibling fun captured in a sunbeam.
Looking at those pictures now, it feels like a little Eid miracle. The holiday break gave us the gift of time, and that time turned our ordinary living room into a magical space. But more than the cool light show, it was the reminder of the joy my kids bring that truly shines through. Those bursts of laughter, that pure, unfiltered joy that only kids can express – that's the real magic of this moment, and one I'll cherish forever.
