I already had another picture in mind for the #shadowhunters contest, when by chance I spotted this wonderful shadow of the building crane on the scaffolding cover.
The building was once the tallest hotel building in Zurich. For more than 40 years, my routes into town, to the regional market or at the start of a short or long train journey have led me past the high-rise building, which has survived many dramas such as a deliberate window fall resulting in death or a fire on the top floor without any casualties. Since the hotel profited a lot from the nearby airport and from jewellery and amusement fairs in Switzerland, which failed to materialise during the Corona crisis, it had to close its doors as a consequence of the lack of tourists and travellers. Now it is used as student accommodation and temporary flats. I took the pictures as snapshots with my Huawei P30 lite and edited them with Snapseed.
