Holy Week - Is it biblical? - My Review
Bro Eli's teaching today gave a clarity on the Roman Catholic doctrine about Holy weeks called "Santa." In the teaching, I understood that the Roman Catholic set aside 51 weeks to be holy. However, all the days must be Santa (Holy), as seen in Luke 9:23
KJV:And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me
Our obligation as believers is to follow Jesus daily and not 51 weeks only. Meaning we do not have a holiday as believers, rather, we should be watchful on how we live our lives. Going further, Bro Eli cleared the notion that Christ wasn't dead on Friday as the Roman Catholic believe. In his statement, according to the Bible, it is erroneous to say He died on Friday and resurrected on Sunday; it will not prove that Jesus is the Christ.
In the book of Matthew 12:38-40 that says:
KJV:Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
That's the sign Jesus gave His disciples - He must be in the heart of the earth for 3 days and 3 nights. These three days according to Bro Eli were from a Wednesday afternoon. In Matthew 28:6 when Mary Magdalene came to seek Jesus on a Sunday, the response was -
KJV:He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Conclusively, the Holy weeks are not biblical. Every day is to be holy and sanctified according to Luke 9:23 as written above
