Baptism is a doctrine of the church which must be taken seriously. Many people do not get baptized even though they have been going to church. These people follow the confusion that baptism is not a requirement for salvation. Many churches do not emphasize the need for baptism to their members. A lot of people are in the church which only follow the church without accepting baptism.

The Lord Jesus Christ was baptized in order to leave an example for us that we should be baptized. If we say that baptism means washing away from sin, then the Lord Jesus Christ wouldn't have needed to be baptized. He was not a sinner. He was sinless. So, as a sinless person, he shouldn't have been baptized. But Jesus Christ got baptized in order to fulfill the commandments of God.

So, as followers of Jesus Christ, we will have to be baptized so that we will be able to fulfill the commandments of God. Baptism is one of the doctrines of Jesus Christ.

*Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
