This morning we had breakfast just up he road from our hotel in a quaint avenue which had quite an impressive side entrance for the Sorbonne University. Those of you that have been to Paris will know that it has thousands of these Bistro type places and they can be hit and miss. Yesterdays was not very good and today it was what you would expect and I guess we will be back there tomorrow morning.
Today was my clothes shopping morning and what has taken me days of hunting in the UK took literally 1 hour in the right shop. Size Factory is a one stop shop for those who have extra long legs or are chubby. I am in between and I am past having to settle for clothes you don't want, but have no choice.
I had a choice of round 6 types of jeans, ok maybe 5 as I was not paying 220 Euros for Ralph Lauren Polo jeans even if they did ft. I managed to pick up 6 pairs including some Chinos and a few shirts. I had not planned on buying shoes, but was persuaded by the family as I can now see us needing 1 extra suitcase for the return leg home. This gives hem more shopping space as we are already overweight and he 1 suitcase will now cover that problem.
My shopping trip is over which is usually every 4 years, but at least know where to go shopping now. All the shops I used to shop at have all been taken over and are now only online which kind of sucks as I cannot use them due to the sizes being so different. Just in shoe sizes I vary between a size 14 and 16 across the various makes and nothing seems standard anymore.
Online clothes shopping does not work for me as I am a size 40 waist, regular length and out of the 3 brands I bought today they were all different sizes. The store manager was a little surprised that I had come to his shop specifically from SA and that the UK had nothing. I am still mulling this over, but there is definitely a business here as a destination shop as well as online. Those of us who know how hard it is to find size 15 shoes that fit you comfortably will appreciate the need for a bricks and mortar outlet. There are thousands of people who think and feel this way who are in this position and why online is not the answer.
This afternoon we were going to the Champs Elysees, but that is also a Police forbidden area so the choices are now limited with what to do tomorrow. I am not a fan, but it may come down to Disneyland. I wanted to go to the Parc de Asterix, but that without a hire car is rather costly and would have cost hundreds of Euros just to get there before admission prices at 45 Euro's each. A very bad suggestion on my part that I quickly back tracked on as I was literally staring at 600 Euros for a day outing.
