Good day, my beautiful people on Hive. I had a very nice Friday, and I feel I should share it with this community.
You see this little baby in the photo above? She's one of the babies in the compound who disturbs me a lot and derives joy in going against certain rules in the compound, like not opening the tap. She's a very lovely baby girl who hardly cries and loves to play around, running to and fro. Oftentimes, she gives her mother a tough time looking for her whenever they're about to go out.
Yesterday being Friday in the afternoon, I saw her beside the cooking stand used by a woman in our compound who sells food. When I saw her putting her hands there, I screamed her name, "Zara!" I was in shock because the cooking stand had just been used and was still hot. She looked at me in shock as well but continued putting her hands underneath. I had to rush towards her and pull her hand out. Fortunately, I found out that the cooking stand was no longer hot, which explained why she was able to do all that.
When I held her hand, she flicked it away because she believed I was disturbing her and obstructing her imaginative cooking.
I checked where the firewood was and saw that not all of it had been well-splashed with water to extinguish the fire. I begged Zara to leave the spot, but she adamantly refused. I screamed at her, but she refused again. She's so used to all my warnings and threats that she no longer gets scared—except when I pick up a cane. Unfortunately, there wasn't any cane around at the time.
So, I decided to fetch some water and splash more on the firewood that still had a little fire on it. After that, I allowed baby Zara to continue doing her thing—her imaginary cooking.
Thanks!
