Hey, I am going to add some random pictures if u don't mind. Why this song?
It all started a few weeks ago when @angryman requested a song that he had already requested 3 years ago:

I can't really blame the guy for not remembering my performance 😄
Anyway a few days ago, I was going through the chord progression, and thought it would be a good idea to revisit this song, that was by The Mamas and The Papas, but we will focus on the version by Jose Feliciano.

After recording the song, I took these guys for a walk, the song says "I went for a walk", and so did I. Don't mind the mess in the car please...Lot's of sand!

All the leaves are brown (all the leaves are brown)
And the sky is gray (and the sky is gray)
I've been for a walk (I've been for a walk)
On a winter's day (on a winter's day)
I'd be safe and warm (I'd be safe and warm)
If I was in L.A. (if I was in L.A.)
California dreamin' (California dreamin')
On such a winter's day
Stopped into a church
I passed along the way
Well, I got down on my knees (got down on my knees)
And I pretend to pray (I pretend to pray)
You know the preacher like the cold (preacher like the cold)
He knows I'm gonna stay (knows I'm gonna stay)
California dreamin' (California dreamin')
On such a winter's day
All the leaves are brown (all the leaves are brown)
And the sky is gray (and the sky is gray)
I've been for a walk (I've been for a walk)
On a winter's day (on a winter's day)
If I didn't tell her (if I didn't tell her)
I could leave today (I could leave today)
California dreamin' (California dreamin')
On such a winter's day (California dreamin')
On such a winter's day (California dreamin')
On such a winter's day

History of the song:

The song was written in 1963 while John Phillips and Michelle Phillips were living in New York City during a particularly cold winter, and she was missing sunny California. He would work on tunes late at night and one morning brought her the first verse.[11] At the time, John and Michelle Phillips were members of the folk group the New Journeymen, which evolved into the Mamas and the Papas.

The other day I took a picture of this cloud, and couldn't find the right post to insert that bad boy. Now it's done!

Great song man. Cool cover photo as well. Nice contrast to the song lyrics. It's anything but grey.

Thanks brother! Yeah man, it's the perfect song for a traveller like you, the type of song you listen to on your way to Aix en Provence!

How did you know we were in Aix-en-Provence this weekend?

Spooky 👻

Hahah u mean stalky!

I either just read it in a comment, or you mentioned it in a post maybe?

Aix en Provence is my favorite area, this and "Les Cevennes" also in the South.

Yeah we really liked Aix and the general area around it. I've never heard of Les Cevennes but just looked it up and it looks amazing. I love landscapes like that.

hmmmmmmmmm ok... so

now i'm asking for permission... AFTER I did something. hehehe

I will tag you very soon

but.... eeeeeeeeeeeeekkkk!!! I'm so excited! LOL

I love it! And is amazing that you could also include José Feliciano's feelings in your own version.

PSsss! You get a 100%! You get a 100% too!

:-) lovely Version !LUV

Thank you @beeber!

@edprivat here is a nice song, please permit me to download to my device 🙏

Thanks repayme! you are permitted to download it anytime!

I am happy, thank you

Three years is a long time to stay at 73 and is that a hologram or does California make you all rainbowy?

I'd be a serenadin fool if I could play guitar like that.

Here I gave you a 100% upvote, but people, don't get used to it, you need to write a quality comment like this gentleman to get one.

Who are the "people" that I am talking to?

Nobody Artie...Nobody 😗

and is that a hologram or does California make you all rainbowy?

I worked hard on canva, I almost hesitated paying for the premium and then I was like "naaaaah" it's looking super professional, the mushroom type.

I'd be a serenadin fool if I could play guitar like that.

You don't need a guitar to serenade pura, just rock that perfect grill of yours and you'll be fine 😄

Ah, I see. Shroomy not fruity.

You know I'm bias toward that song, I think it played on every school bus I ever rode and, no, they weren't all short! You did it well. I can't tell you exactly what day they wrote it but it must've been a week day, real early in the morning in San Francisco the second week of February to find a gray sky.

Thanks for noticing! :bling:

I get another 100% or did I max out already like co-pays at the dentist?

You maxed out, dude...!!!

BEautiful grill

Man, we didn't have that song on our school bus! We didn't have any song in the school bus, French are so quiet 😁

I get another 100% or did I max out already like co-pays at the dentist?

How much do you need? 😁

Great cover @edprivat 😎
I like the first photo with the edits… very colourful!

I like it! Congratulations!

Thanks for liking it!!! Congratulations for having ears 😄 and listening!! haha

Hi Ed, it's too late to vote for this post as I'm checking out all your stuff that I have missed in the last few months...

It's one of my favorite songs here. Sometimes it feels good (very very good actually) just because you see your favorite song being performed by your favorite artist (of course not mentioning their skills and how good the performance technically is yet).... I think you get what I mean.

For how much I love exploring new artists and new things, the feeling of something familiar is just incredible... it feels like home...

I requested the song twice...?!?!?!? Nawwwwww... you must be dreamin...
Do you do stuff like this Eddy Boy...???

English/French Version by Rod Mckuen

I love that song! You want the french version? Man I don't know if I got the skills!

It's more acting than singing. Did you know that the singer Jacques Brel was very shy and sang showing is back to the audience?

Did you know that this song was supposed to be a satyre how crazy we can be for love sometimes, and pathetic when begging someone to stay, but people actually took it as a love song?

Crazy shit man!

You want the french version? Man I don't know if I got the skills!

Either the French version, or a combination like McKuen did on his album that I purchased in the 1960's.

You reminded me about that 'back to the audience' thing Brel did, but didn't know it was originally a satire piece. What I do remember is, McKuen has stated (back then) that the song was written in collaboration with Brel. He also had a book published 'Listen to the Warm' with all the songs and poems from the album in printed form (Which I also have)

I attended a one man show by McKuen in NYC. When the performance was over, he sat on the edge of the stage, very relaxed and cordial, interacting with any audience members choosing to speak with him.

If you want to check out a more guitarish version, Neil Diamond might be worthwhile to check out...

Ciao, monsieur 😎

Thanks brother I'll keep in mind the Neil Diamond version too! Pretty gnarly what you described with the McKuen performance in NY.

Do you know the legal name of @themarkymark ???? It is needed to contact his local police station. Any information to his whereabouts would be much appreciated.

Hey @edprivat

I see in colours because of this cool rendition you gave us.
Oh, wait, it was the cover photo 😁

Man, we missed seeing and hearing you 😎

Ow, that part in the end, lol, staring on B flat instead of C 😁

a whole step lower, why not?

But your voice was just perfectly beautiful, great cover, as you always do!
