MUSIC: Three Tune Tuesday 118 - 3 Songs on the Theme of “Praise” (Hive Open Mic Week 177)

in #hive-193816last year

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing to you from Cape Town in South Africa!

This is my 53rd week in a row contributing to "Three Tune Tuesday", an initiative started by @ablaze. It is week 118 overall!

With this being week 53 for me, this marks the beginning of my second year contributing to TTT. In my first year I took on the mammoth task of attempting to play the three songs myself as well as share the original videos!

Now, what I would like to try is to take the Hive Open Mic challenge Theme of the Week and give suggestions on how I would tackle it!

For those of you who are not familiar, the Hive Open Mic is a weekly challenge on the Hive Open Mic community for anybody who loves to sing. You don’t even need to play an instrument... a backing track or a cappella is also fine as far as I can tell.

Different artists are given the chance to choose a “Theme of the Week” that the posts should be based on. Often it can be difficult for people to think about easy songs that might fit that theme… so let me see if I can be of any assistance to the people who still might not know what to try by the time Tuesday comes around!

All right! Let’s get cracking!

Here is the post inviting everyone to participate in this week’s Hive Open Mic (Week 177): https://ecency.com/hive-105786/@hiveopenmic/hive-open-mic-177-worldwide-live-music-event

As you can see, it was the turn of @mhizerbee to pick a theme, and this week the theme is “Praise”!

Let me see, I think one of the more obvious ways that most religious or spiritual people would interpret this is a song that praises God/The Higher Power. One of my favourite songs in this kind of class (because I am such a Van Morrison fan) is “Whenever God Shines His Light on Me” which was originally a duet between Van Morrison and Cliff Richard:

Another way we could interpret the theme “Praise” is to pick a song that is about praising our significant other! Gabby Barrett does just that in her song “The Good Ones” (as in her man is “One of the Good Ones”). This song is easy to play (the 4 chord miracle actually – 1st major, 5th major, 6th minor, 4th major – for example D A Bm G or C G Am F or G D Em C), so I will tackle it this week, even if I have to switch some of the words around! Why? Well, it’s one of the songs I’ve been asked to play at a Wedding this weekend, so I need to practice it anyway!

Finally, one last way we could interpret the theme “Praise” is to pick a song that praises a place. An obvious example of this might be the famous song “Take Me Home, Country Roads” – with the way it lovingly describes the narrators home in the mountains of West Virginia.

So that's week 118 done and dusted! I hope that gave some people some ideas on how to tackle the Hive Open Mic Challenge this week? Perhaps I’ve even inspired one or two new people to give it a try? Please let me know!

Videos too. You will need to use the 3Speak and PeakD platforms to make things work for now.

Ecency Devs think they should have things waxed in around 48 hours.

Ah no problem - my next few posts will be 3speak videos! I must just try remember to add a photo to this post when I can!

Cool!

Hey @jasperdick it is great to learn that you used to present the the three songs your self, I can't imagine how tasking it would have been for you!

As for the songs, I prefer the last one, take me home because recently I watched the part of the kings men movie where it was sung, I never knew it was a song by Denver. I liked it regardless and now you have brought it here in the community. That's great!

Thanks for your presence and your contribution to the community.

Keep it up!!!

I love Van Morrison!

Congratulations! You've been selected for @ecency curation. Keep up the awesome work.
