Hello music lovers and Hello hivers!

Tuesday for me on Hive means three tune tuesday...

It's Tuesday and of course that means it's inspiration time!!

The inspiration for this week is well it's hanging....

I was on the telephone yesterday sorting out an insurance cancellation and yeah was kept hanging ...

Then I was talking to some online and was just left hanging a few times 🤣

Today we are hanging on the telephone

It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!

@ablaze started #ttt 173 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his last post Nick Cave's Ghosteen Part IV for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 173 - win 5 HBI

Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the TWELVE sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!

Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday

Debbie Harrie (solo) and Blondie I have seen a few times over the years.

So it's fitting we kick off with one of their songs from the iconic Parallel Lines album which was their third album..

Blondie - Hanging On The Telephone

And I was doing a bit of researching as I do...

Turns out Blondie's version of Hanging On The Telephone ...

... was a fluffing cover!!!

So here is the original!

The Nerves - Hanging On The Telephone

"Hanging on the Telephone" was originally written by Jack Lee for his band, the Nerves. The song appeared as the lead-off track on the Nerves's 1976 EP; however, the release was a commercial failure and became the group's only release. Long after the song's eventual commercial success, Lee reflected "Even people who hated me – and there were plenty – had to admit it was great."

So it was recorded two years earlier by a band I had never heard of ... I wonder if some of our American ttt regulars have ever heard of them...

If you want to know more on the song and who covered it, check out here

image.png

I was scrolling through the list of who had covered it.... Def Leppard, The Kirby Grips, End of Fashion, Paris Motel but the most intriguing was Jimmy Somerville.

If you remember Jimmy Somerville from the 80s and the synth-pop groups Bronski Beat and The Communards you will know his powerful and soulful countertenor/falsetto voice.

It should be a banger!

Jimmy Somerville - Hanging on the telephone

Well shiver me timbers! I was not expecting a fluffing balad like that.

He did it well and nothing like the original or Blondie's version hehe!

Hehe what did you think?

Bonus Tune

I love Blondie and Debbie Harry is one of my favourite songs and as we were talking phones then I just had to include this bonus tune...

It seemed rather appropriate?

Blondie - Call me

Which was your favourite (if any) ? Or is it not one I played?

Note: The ~three~ four YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.

I wish that you all have a brilliant rest of your week, and until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶

Thanks for visiting!

That’s some energy with Blondie right there. That black dress and the movements are contrasting and I love it!

Neither did I! That’s one very smooth acoustic… Jimmy cool 😎

Okay I see why you like Blondie. That last song was fire. You know me… I’m an upbeat person unless I’m sad 😂

I like Call Me. Almost beat the first song for me

Call me is a brilliant song, they have so many songs that are awesome, and even when she went solo she still had hot songs. I loved them and saw them and her alone about 8 times over the years!
Yes Deraa 100% upbeat unless the handle got knocked to 100% sad!
She was famous for dressing in black and then white thrown about ...

Good Picks! 🎙️🎸

I liked the version performed by Jimmy Somerville very much.

Take a look here.

Oh I love that here! I saw them or her alone about 8 times over the years. Cool shots nani .. she went to Cuba?

Thank you. 😅 Yes, she came to Cuba.

Y nunca me invitaste 😭

I didn't know you at that time 😂. But you're already invited. Blondie can be put on bluetooth. 😄

Hehe I am teasing! But yes I probably listen to one of their songs every other day

Isn't it so crazy when you realize that a song was actually a cover. There are so many older songs that I don't think people even realize that is the case. Even newer songs that were actually old songs. It's just insane. I love finding new to me music like that.

I am still shocked when I find out songs are covers especially when it is from a favourite band!
That is one beauty of our ttt is that we do keep finding out new things!

Excellent ttt! I really enjoyed the bonus hehe! Call me is a rush of energy. Thanks for sharing great music.

They are all nice but the "call me" is the one that I like and familiar to me.

All great, mate! But the Jimmy Somerville ❤️❤️❤️ - I fluffing love it.

!BBH

I can't for the life of me remember hearing it, but he really made it his own!

That means you're the king of multi tasking hehe.

These are all great tunes, thanks for sharing.

Hehe sometimes we have to multitask though Amie!
Hope you liked them...

I love the exercise of looking for the different versions of a song: you can find real treasures. I particularly liked The Nerves - Hanging On The Telephone. I'm going to check out @ablaze initiative to see what it's all about. Regards

Yes doing a bot of research for music I always find is relaxing and often fun too!
The Nerves original was good, it is a shame the band never took off really.
Yeah it is a great initiative and a bit of fun!
